Bootloop and inaccessible BIOS after enabling secure boot

Hello everyone, yesterday I made a huge mistake. I was in my PC's BIOS and had a completely stupid idea, which was to enable secure boot from my PC's BIOS.

After that, my PC keeps booting in a loop, and I can't access the BIOS to fix it: the motherboard display screen doesn't show up, and there's no beep at startup, just a black screen.

I've tried:

- A CMOS reset (several times, with all possible techniques)
- Disconnecting the graphics card and hard drives.

Nothing changes, impossible to do anything. So I'm turning to you here hoping to find some help. Here are some details of my setup:

- CPU: i7 7700k 4.2GHz
- GPU: GTX 1050Ti MSI
- MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE Z270-GAMING-K3
- 1 SSD & 1 HDD

I really don't know what to do anymore, thank you in advance for your help.

Hello; the Delete key is used to enter the BIOS, the F2 key allows switching from classic mode to windowed mode, the F9 key provides basic information, and the F12 key gives access to the boot menu. If you set it to setup, it is probably waiting for the password to access the BIOS; without this password, you can perform all possible manipulations in vain. In this case, you need to press Enter; if no password is recognized, you should call the brand's support service.

When I press enter, nothing happens. Someone will have to explain to me one day what the point of secure boot is if it just prevents my PC from starting :'(

This is mainly to prevent any malware from installing unsigned code, and the other option you have, modifying via setup, is to require a password to enter the BIOS. If you had a RAID array, resetting the BIOS won't help.

But why is my PC boot looping? I mean, I can't even enter the BIOS, I really don’t know what to do anymore...

It's certain that you've created quite a mess. I don't have a miracle solution, but you need to try resetting your PC several times at startup. After a few seconds, press the reset button, do this
five times or more? If you don't have a reset button, turn off the power using the on/off switch at the back of the tower. See if after treating it this way it wants to reset to default and display something on the screen.

If you don't have a CD in the drive or a USB stick plugged in, I don't know what to think anymore.

Let me know if you manage to contact a technician from GIGABYTE, and I assume your card is no longer under warranty.

Hello

Secure Boot does not prevent access to the BIOS; you need to tap the BIOS access key on your PC repeatedly as soon as you turn it on and without waiting for anything.

Best regards

The problem is that the PC keeps restarting in a loop without even beeping or showing the motherboard display screen. So no matter how much I spam my BIOS key (del), nothing happens...

With which key?

To test F11 or 12 but from what I read if the clear doesn't work it's a bad sign.

F11 / F12 do nothing, same for the rest of CMOS...

I remember when I enabled secure boot I got this message: "secure boot can be enabled when Platform is in User Mode. Repeat operation after enrolling Platform key (PK)" and so I foolishly changed something by setting the "Security Option" to "Setup" instead of "System".

The delete key, the one at the bottom right in big. That's the key I usually use to access the BIOS.

Unplug the power cord and move the jumper > CLR CMOS < to reset the BIOS, 30 seconds, then return the jumper to its place.

I have already cleared the CMOS with the jumper, unfortunately it doesn't change anything.

Hard drive unplugged, you don't have access to the BIOS?

Yes, I disconnected both from the motherboard and nothing changes.

Remove the memory sticks and perform a CMOS clear again.

Do I need to start the PC without memory sticks before clearing the CMOS? Sorry, I didn't quite understand.

You remove the RAM sticks, start the PC to see if it beeps, and if it does, you clear the CMOS again without the RAM sticks. Then you put everything back in place to see if there's any improvement.

Also, try tapping the Escape key at startup; maybe you'll have a boot choice. After that, I don't have any more potions.

Hello.

Why not get in touch with the manufacturer's technical support?

Last attempt, try plugging your keyboard into another USB 2 port and unplug your mouse.

Try what I suggested, plug your keyboard into another USB2 port

It doesn't matter yet.

Have you tried connecting your monitor to the DVI-I port on the motherboard?

I connected it to the HDMI port of the graphics card and the motherboard, still no change.

You need to remove the graphics card to connect to the motherboard port.

I unplugged the graphics card (removed the PCI-E slot) and connected it to the motherboard port, still nothing. It’s a BIOS issue.

You can't do things halfway; you need to physically remove the card, not just the power cable.

I did what you said, still nothing.

I repeat myself once again. Try plugging your keyboard into another USB2 port and unplug your mouse.

Well, let me be clear, my card is no longer guaranteed and there's really no way to do anything about it. I'm going to have to buy a new one... SO A WORD OF ADVICE TO EVERYONE, IF YOU VALUE YOUR EQUIPMENT, NEVER ENABLE THIS SECURE BOOT OF ***** !!!!!!!!!!

Otherwise, I wanted to know if you know of any good motherboards around 150 euros for 7th generation processors and LGA 1151 because there are almost none left for sale and I'm really struggling to find one :(

Hi, I'm in the same situation as you. That's why I'd like to know if you've solved the problem during all this time because right now I don't know if I should buy a new motherboard or not. Currently, I'm lost and I feel like the problem doesn't come from the motherboard because I know that the Clear CMOS or the battery works, yet it remains at the original problem.

Thank you in advance for your help. And if others have had the same issue and have managed to sort it out, I strongly encourage you to reply to me.
