How to prevent Discord from starting up on boot?

Hello,

I have been experiencing an issue for some time: Discord starts automatically on boot, no matter what I do. The software doesn't even appear in the Startup section of the Task Manager, so I reinstalled it. While it reappeared in the Manager's section, even after I disabled the software from starting up, it continued to launch. Similarly, when I go to Discord > User Settings > Windows Settings, the software is not enabled on startup. I tried enabling it once to see what would happen, and the software opened... twice.

I am trying to resolve this issue because the software, when it starts automatically after Windows boots, slows down its Internet connection (I don’t know why, but I have identified it as the source of the problem by forcing it to stop during the software initialization).

Thank you in advance for your help.

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 73.0.3683.86

Hello,
You just need to remove the key responsible for the launch.
Download FRST, once downloaded place it on the desktop then open it and you will have this:

Click on Scan at the end of the analysis you will have two text files on the desktop FRST and Addition send these reports to https://pjjoint.malekal.com/ see this tutorial paragraph Send the analysis reports to pjjoint then provide the two links generated by Pjoint in your next message.

It is not Discord that is launching but its update module, it launches and checks if an update is available, which slows down the startup. I will disable this automatic check with the following script.

Procedure to follow in the indicated order:

1- Open FRST and copy the entire script in the box below:
Start::
CreateRestorePoint:
CloseProcesses:
Startup: C:\Users\antonin\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Discord.lnk [2019-03-13]
ShortcutTarget: Discord.lnk -> C:\Users\antonin\AppData\Local\Discord\Update.exe (Discord Inc. -> GitHub)
EmptyTemp:
Reboot:
End::

2- Once the script is copied, go back to FRST, click on Fix. FRST will automatically take the script from the clipboard and execute it.
Let the fix complete, and once it is done, restart your computer.
Then once your computer has restarted:
4- You will have a Fixlog file on your desktop, send it via https://pjjoint.malekal.com/ and then put the link generated by Pjoint in your next message.
5- Check and let me know if your problem is still present.
