Word field update failure

Solved

Hello,
I'm currently drafting a long Word (2013) document with numerous fields, and I can no longer update them.
I selected everything with Ctrl+A and then F9, and all the fields appeared in the format {} (e.g., for a figure, {SEQ Figure \* ARABIC}. Word indicates at the bottom of the window that "One or more fields in the selection could not be updated."
In the options, I validated "Update fields before printing" and tried to print, but it was unsuccessful. The document prints with the message "Error! Bookmark not defined."
Does anyone have an idea?

Thank you in advance

Hello

It's hard to answer you without knowing more and without seeing the document.

We don't know how you inserted your references, nor what these bookmarks are.
I remind you that there are two types of bookmarks: those created manually (Insert => Bookmark) and those automatically created by Word on headings in particular.

The problem may stem from copying and pasting from one document to another, bookmarks accidentally deleted, etc.

If the undefined bookmark messages are only in the table of contents, it might be enough to recreate the TOC, but normally it updates in Preview before printing.

The document may also be corrupted, especially if it is large and contains many cross-references.

I remind you that F9 updates the fields but that it's Alt+F9 that displays the fields in their field form { }.

Hello,
Thank you for your response.
I eventually found a solution.
I think I inadvertently transformed my whole document into a field (enclosed by {}).
So I copied and pasted the entire text without the {} into a new document and the issue was resolved.
