Hello, I'm in the same boat and I'm furious!!!
I installed Family Link on my daughter's phone, but we also had a tablet linked to her Gmail account. The app installed itself on the tablet, but it didn't install correctly and since then, the tablet is locked; I'm being asked for a code, but it doesn't work!!!!
I reached out to Family Link support, they tried to send me new codes but nothing works, and the only solution they suggest is for me to contact Huawei to find the procedure to reset my tablet!!!! IN SHORT, we are going to lose everything!!
If anyone has a workaround, I would be grateful!!!!

PS: regarding all "loss", it needs to be put into perspective.
First of all, if your tablet crashes by itself, due to someone’s mishap, an app update that crashes everything, it breaks, or it's stolen, you'll lose everything just the same.
A tablet, a computer, or any electronic device is not immortal.
And so if this is your concern, you need to make sure that you won't lose the information, at least not the majority.
On Android there are various ways to protect against data loss and often it's offered by default at the first startup, but few people pay attention to it, and some are activated automatically.
After resetting, you should generally log back into the same account and it will recover the data from what has been activated.
Family link is an application of *****.
Just like my daughter's tablet is completely frozen, unusable email address.
A nightmare.
