Is leaving a rarely used tablet plugged in all the time a good idea?

Hello,
I recently bought a Samsung tablet to use when I travel, but at home I only use the PC.
Therefore, I always kept the tablet "plugged in" to its charger...
But several people pointed out to me that this could damage the battery and I consulted my grandson Robin (17 years old) who is the most tech-savvy in the family.
He hesitated and finally replied that he wasn't sure about anything.
Lacking the ability to consult a computer engineer, I would be grateful to anyone who is knowledgeable (aside from all the "hearsay") who could advise me on whether it is possible (or not) to leave my tablet on its charger for a long period without causing damage.
Thanks in advance!
