    Hello,

All you need to do is close and relaunch the browser.

Hello, well no, that would be too simple and I wouldn't have this problem! My history gets erased every time I close the Opera browser, even if I don't turn off the computer. I must have done something (like enabling private browsing once?) that makes this private browsing permanent. Even when I uncheck "clear browsing history" in the settings.
The solution might be to uninstall Opera and reinstall it, but I'm afraid of losing a lot of things.
Thank you for your additional help.

I don’t see any settings that can clear the history when you exit the browser.

In the settings, under "At startup", make sure the option Open the startup page is checked.

Otherwise, maybe the shortcut on your desktop opens directly to a private browsing page. Right-click on the shortcut and ensure it points to the target C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Programs\Opera\launcher.exe

If the problem still persists, type opera://update in the address bar and press Enter. Then under "Recovery", click on Recover. Check Keep my data and reset only Opera settings and click Recover again.

I have tried all the suggested operations, but to no avail.
In Settings, I did not see a section "At Startup".
The Opera update did not change anything either.

In that case, I suggest you back up your bookmarks and completely uninstall Opera. Then restart your computer and reinstall it.

Thank you for your suggestions. I did everything (completely uninstalling Opera and reinstalling it), but it hasn't changed anything: the history clears every time I close Opera. It must be something with my computer because I don't have this problem with my laptop. It's not a big deal. Have a good day. Maurice

I think that a software on your PC is responsible for this issue. Review especially the settings of your antivirus and cleaning/optimization software to check if an option to clear the history is not enabled.

Indeed, it's the same with Mozilla. This must have happened during a software update or a cleanup.
Thank you for your assistance. I will keep you posted if I achieve a result!!
