Hello everyone, I'll try to keep it brief:
Having regular power outages, I sometimes find myself unable to use the internet for several hours. I'm looking for a solution to connect my Sagem Livebox directly to a car battery or a power bank using 12 volts. Do you know the actual power consumption of this device?
The idea would be to connect the Livebox directly to batteries or accumulators recharged during the day by a solar panel. I do not want to use a converter which is too power-consuming. I read that simply using a 12v converter (the model as provided to be plugged into 220v) results in a 75% loss of energy. By using 12v directly, I avoid these losses and can thus gain battery/accumulator autonomy.
I am wondering if it is possible to connect this box to a USB port with 5v and 2.1 A. It seems to me that the announced power and the actual required power are not necessarily the same.
I found a pretty good system on Amazon but it is not exactly what I'm looking for. It is a 220v socket but with a 2000 mAh 18650 accumulator. It costs nearly 40 euros and a single battery is super light for autonomy, unless it's just to cope with short power cuts.
I'm looking for a system sold without batteries (I recover them from old laptop batteries) to limit the cost.
If you have a DIY method, I would be very interested, the idea being to minimize the budget. Thank you for your advice :)

Hi,
And we must also make sure that the cabinet supplying the box is not affected... because if it cuts out on its side, there’s little chance of having Internet connection anyway, it becomes completely useless.

I think that phone lines are backed up in case of a power outage... for lines from other ISPs that are not initially phone lines, only IP network or fiber, I'm not sure... I guess so..??
We should call the fire department (using the landline) during an outage to see what happens...??- See my response in No. 20, but the landline != internet. The line is not used in the same way.
So, if the power supply is cut off, there's no more network... and unfortunately, battery lives are rarely long ;-)
