Change the background of a slide

I hadn't realized that this was a slide modified by the automatic designer. And as a result, it's a bit complicated.
In reality, the automatic designer makes a mess behind your back without you imagining anything, and especially without any possibility to modify that mess.

I imagine that your slide is based on the classic layout "Title and Placeholder" and that you've inserted images. The designer has therefore made several presentation proposals for you. It seems like it’s always new, but in reality, it's always pretty much the same layouts.

Your slide, although based on the classic layout, that is with the blue block on the left, no longer displays a blue block on the left. The blue block at the bottom (which you want to reduce) is an addition from the designer to resemble the original block.
And the original block on the left (which can't just disappear like that because of the master slide) is still there, but covered by a white rectangle.

To realize all this, display the Selection pane (Home tab => Select => Selection Pane). In this pane, you will see several "rectangles." Click on each of these objects one by one. The first rectangle on the list is the blue rectangle at the bottom since it's been brought to the front compared to the others. The second rectangle is logically the large white rectangle that hides what’s underneath. Hide it by clicking on the eye and you will find the block on the left.

Regarding these additions from the designer, you will see that, even when selected, you cannot access them, and that you can't modify anything.

The only solution would be to hide these rectangles and manually create your own blue block.
Is this interesting? I don't know. It might also be as quick to manage your slide manually without the designer's help by hiding the background objects and drawing a blue block as we wish.

Conclusion: the designer can be nice, as long as we keep their proposals as they are. Otherwise, we have other solutions.
