Hello,
I think that unlike people who will tell you "it's a scam" right away, personally I've placed several orders (over 20) before switching to AliExpress. So I'm going to go through the various arguments point by point, not to contradict, but to give the reality of things based on my experience, which is an important thing to keep in mind: Wish doesn't sell products; it's a site that brings together several merchants (dropshipping, like many others do). One more thing, it's been a little over a year since I stopped ordering on Wish, so perhaps some things have changed:
- The strikethrough prices are all false without exception; that's clear. The quality of the product is more or less equivalent to the price you pay, depending on what you buy, of course. The title of the product and the description can be misleading, you need to read carefully; sometimes the description doesn't match the product, which is therefore a scam (though I have always been refunded personally).
- Products take time to arrive, exceeding the expected delivery date. Yes, that's true, but not without reason. On one hand, the products come from China, so it’s not just around the corner. The normal delivery time is between 2 to 5 weeks. Packages are sent in bulk, meaning they are shipped when there are enough of them, not individually. Also, there are all the procedures related to country changes, which can randomly take a long time. It's important to know that within 30 days after the expected date, you can request a refund, and personally, I have always been refunded. This long delay is present with all Chinese sellers and has been even longer since COVID.
- Some products don't arrive; yes, that's true. Sometimes packages don't arrive, or they arrive 2-3 months later for various reasons, such as lost packages or packages held by customs, mainly. Once again, I have always received my refunds.
- The products are of poor quality; is that surprising? Bought at 20-50% less, made in China, and thus some, notably in the digital sector, are second-hand products.
- The reviews are mostly true because either people think they got a good deal, or because it meets their expectations, or in most cases, the product is consistent with the description, so logically one can't say it's not what it is.
- You can cancel orders, but within a short time frame (I think 8 hours). Beyond that, it’s impossible; the seller has already received the order and is ready to ship within the hour that follows.
After why I switched to AliExpress:
- More attractive prices (product and shipping)
- Better descriptions
- Generally better products
- Fewer scams
- Better-ranked products
- Clear distinction between new/used/refurbished
- Sale of brand-name products with official sellers (at least that's what they say)
- AliExpress has a better relationship with its sellers
- The customer has a better relationship with sellers (the seller protection, which roughly corresponds to the delivery time and the time limit for requesting a refund, can be increased by asking the seller, protecting the seller on the money he will receive and the buyer on the time he has to request a refund; well, to appreciate that, one needs to have some common sense)
After, you're probably going to find negative comments about AliExpress, of course.
Hoping this helps those who are in doubt, and for delivery, I insist that currently, delivery times are around 3 months according to seller protection, not counting that it can increase with lockdowns.
If there are any other questions, feel free to ask.
