Question

Hello, I just bought an external multimedia player, Keops Neo, 500 GB
when I connect it to the TV and want to watch the content, I can't see my folders anymore, whether it's video, music, or photo
however, when I connect it to my PC, I can see everything inside
the first time I installed it, everything worked fine and now nothing
what can I do

I had the same problem as you, I solved it by partitioning it into 2 (2 x 250 GB), and since then everything has been going well.
For your information, I connected the HDD as master on my tower and booted from my XP Pro CD thinking I would have the option to format it in FAT32,
but that option was impossible, so I formatted it in NTFS and then partitioned it into 2!
On HD1 I put my music and on HD2 I put all my movies, and everything has been working perfectly since then!!

Hello,
I have the Neo Keops 300GB, and I can't play the videos from my digital camera. Is that normal? I've been told to download Gordian Knot to modify AVI (MP4) videos to Xvid or Divx ....
But I'm not an IT pro!!!
Movies and photos work perfectly....

Hello, I have the same problem as you..... regarding the Neo Keops 500GB disk.

Does breaking the partition and formatting it remove the OS that allows it to boot on the TV?

That's what scares me the most.

I bought a Keops 300 giga and everything works perfectly.
Recognized by Windows immediately, very fast menu on the TV screen.
No problems ultimately.
It works just as well as my TVIX, which cost three times as much.
I simply find its connectivity a bit limited, but at €99, it's cheaper than a regular external hard drive.

I've followed your problems a bit, but unfortunately I can't help you.

Hello,
For those who can't see their files on the TV (just a ROOT message) but can see them on their PC, force the formatting. If the PC tells you it can't format it, go to the control panel => administrative tools => computer management => disk management, then click on the disk and format the partition as "ntfs or fat." Once that's done, copy your files from the PC to the multimedia drive. For those who have a slightly bigger problem like I had, open the case with a screwdriver and check if the hard drive is set to master. You'll see that it's no more complicated than on the PC; you can even add another one and replace it.
Mine, after buying it, was in slave mode; it was bugging out normally, so I put the jumper back in place (master mode), and by buying a 320GB, I ended up with a nice 500GB "D system" :p

Minux83, don't hesitate to partition it; it will only erase the hard drive, it's simple. Inside, there is an internal hard drive; there is no OS :) it's just a simple graphics card so you can see "movies, music, etc... on the TV." With a simple internal hard drive, they've turned it into an external one; it's just tinkering, but it works very well.

As the owner of a Neo Keops 500 GB multimedia player, I confirm that by partitioning the player, it recognizes the files.  Indeed, it recognized the files on the PC but not on the TV. By partitioning it into two 250 GB sections, it works again.

J'avais le même problème, j'avais créé plusieurs dossiers pour les films, les photos, etc. J'en ai créé de nouveaux et tout déplacé dedans, mais comme ça ne marchait pas, j'ai retransféré dans les anciens dossiers et je me suis aperçu que le disque était fragmenté. Après défragmentation, tout est redevenu complètement normal. J'espère avoir résolu ton problème et celui des nombreux autres.

Well, you right-click on "My Computer," go to "Manage," then "Computer Management," select your external disk, right-click, (under Vista it’s "Shrink Volume," under XP if you don’t have Partition Magic downloaded)....if it's under XP it won't format it, but under Vista, it will.

Hi Lailoulai  I'm in trouble now lol, because I put in about twenty movies, it works, and when I put in all my movies, nothing happens..... so I'm going to try with half of my movies and then I'll know for sure, because I think there must be a limit to how many movies it can handle.

Hello everyone,  I have the Keops Neo 320 GB since yesterday, and it works very well, but only under XP, because with Vista, when I transfer movies or music and connect it to my TV, it doesn’t see the folders.  With XP, it works like a charm. I didn't need to partition the drive.

Hi, I had this problem;  you have files that have titles that are too long or with unrecognized symbols. Reconnect it to your computer and change the titles of your files. It worked for me  see you later!

Having a multimedia hard drive myself (Packard Bell Store and Play 3500), before asking for help, perhaps you should simply copy your movies into a folder (for example, a video folder for films; photos for images). In the case of Packard Bell, it is not possible to play a movie UNLESS IT IS PUT IN THE RIGHT FOLDER..... Often, (written small, I grant it) the user manual indicates it, but I know it’s super long and boring. Have a good day everyone.  Regarding my problem: I placed movies on my multimedia hard drive, but unfortunately, the Packard Bell program does not read all the files; either there is a problem with the sound (the required codecs are NOT ON THE MULTIMEDIA HARD DRIVE) or there are other parameters that are different (for example: same codecs, same extension but it does not work)  Could someone tell me how to introduce another playback program on my multimedia hard drive or add the codecs to my multimedia hard drive (I have tried in vain). For now, I am left with 40% of “playable” movies on my multimedia hard drive, while I can play ALL of them without issue on my PC...... Thank you all for any help you can provide. Lim

Hi Joss, you just need to move your files to your PC (I said move and not copy-paste) and then move them back to your keops.
I had the same problem with some files a colleague put on my keops, I could see them on the PC but not on the TV.
By the way, does anyone know if there exists a male VGA cable on one end and USB2 on the other because I messed up the config of my keops (I switched it to VGA and I can't get back to the original config). Thanks in advance to all.

Hello everyone, following the troubles with my Kéops 500 GB, I reformatted and partitioned it into two sections: 200 GB and 300 GB. It worked fairly well, but there was still an issue with folders. I'm getting rid of it and getting a Storex 640 GB, hoping for better quality. Here’s a little tip: when a movie is on it but not playable, causing gaps in the reading of titles, just rename the movie. In short, I do not recommend it. For more info, feel free to contact me. Hello  I noticed that when a file was larger than 4.5 GB, my Neo Keops stopped working on the TV (only the ROOT line), while I could read it perfectly fine on the PC. By removing this large file, everything returned to normal.  There you go, if it can help some people.  Zian

Hello everyone, I bought a Neo Keops 500G for partitioning and you need to use Partition Magic.... It's important to note that it was only recognized when plugged into the power with the USB port on the bottom... it turns on with the remote control only when connected to the power, using the USB port on the top. !!!! It worked perfectly, then I used it with my PC, no problem... but when I reconnected it to the TV in the same way, the TV no longer recognizes it... Hello,  I acquired the Neo Keops 1000GB hard drive.  I am using Vista so I only plug it in (without installation CD) but my hard drive does not show up.  The order of connections and power-up does not change anything. I also tried changing the USB port, no change. However, this message might help me: maelenzo - December 25, 2009 at 10:57 PM Hi, do this: right-click on My Computer (or Computer), click on "Manage", then "Storage". In the right window, choose "Disk Management" (local), then double-click, and you should see the hard drives present on your PC, usually in the form of horizontal bars... locate the bar corresponding to your Keops... in general, this is done when you want to format it, if you want to format it, just right-click on it and then format. A lot of people did this and resolved the issue this way. Then the Neo appeared in their PC as soon as it was plugged in.  But when I right-click on Computer, I don't have a "Manage" option available to me...  Thank you in advance. Thomas  PS: The blue LED is blinking like crazy and my antivirus is Avira (maybe they're communicating... or is it scanning it???)

Hi Thomas.......... Well, here's what I do: Start/right-click on computer/manage/double-click on storage/double-click on disk management/there, your PC searches for the data on your present drives and opens a window with the volume, the file system, etc., in my case, 1 hard drive hdd (C:), 1 hdd (E:), and my Keops. Hoping to have helped you at least a little........after, from experience with my Keops, mine had trouble reading files on the TV, but after formatting it into two partitions, one in FAT32, no issues...... For your antivirus, I also have this one, no issues for me.
