Question

Hello everyone!
I'm thinking of buying a 500GB Memup Media Disk multimedia hard drive and I have a few questions to ask you ^^
Would you recommend buying this multimedia hard drive?
Is the noise level really higher than that of a normal computer and bothersome?
My PC is connected to my TV (the images that appear on my PC also appear on my TV) so that I can watch movies on my PC (those with special formats or with subtitles, for example), will I be able to watch movies (with or without subtitles) recorded on the multimedia hard drive connected to my PC, which is itself connected to my TV, using VLC?

No worries, I have this 400GB hard drive!!
Movies with subtitles play perfectly on the TV! The noise is insignificant compared to a computer! Slight heating at the start but that's normal with a fan!

Don't hesitate to go for it, this drive is great!!

Hello, I have one, no problem (Memup media disk 400g) but a friend of mine formatted his by mistake and now it won't work again. My setup is XP Pro AMD 2700+ with 1.048 memory, 400 GB hard drive
and a laptop running Windows 98!! because the hard drive must be formatted in FAT32.
I proceeded as follows: started the laptop, installed the Memup driver then connected the hard drive via USB; the PC recognized it and I formatted it under MS-DOS (FAT32), which took quite a while (400 GB) but no problem!
I reconnected the media disk to the TV and got the message ''fatal error 04''. What should I do????

I bought this hard drive for Christmas and to my great disappointment, if you don't have a PC, you can't organize your hard drive as you wish. Furthermore, my remote control just broke down after 3 days. On the plus side, it makes almost no noise (500GB) and plays almost all files.
So before buying it, check out its competitors especially in terms of reliability.

I am the unfortunate owner of a Memep media disk 320 purchased from E.l in 2006. Within a week, I reported that the machine was making a loud noise, forcing me to turn up the TV volume. E.L's response was that your disk isn't full!!!!!!!! and doesn't spin properly
I'm fed up with these supermarkets that don't care about us, so I locked the HDD in a drawer, haha, that's not the right solution. So before the warranty expired, I took the equipment back to E.L, and after a month with an extended warranty, yes, but unfortunately, nothing got better—a loud fan noise, even worse. As for the fan, I removed it. So my advice: not to go for Memup—it makes noise, and they don't care about customers. The solution for a multimedia HDD is a casing and a HDD to assemble in the casing; the nice surprise is that the casing, depending on the brand, can have a warranty of more than a year, and the HDD, depending on the brand, can be guaranteed from 2 to 5 years. The thing is, this nice little device contains all my "vital" info (photos, music, and movies) and if I lose them it's the end of the world (at least!!!)!!!

Furthermore, since my CD/DVD drive is no longer working (the icon no longer appears in My Computer, it doesn't read anything), I won't be able to install my hard drive. I just fixed this issue with mine.
I went to consult the memup support and the fault comes from Windows, because the hard drive is assigned to letter F: if it is used by another device (USB stick, another hard drive....) Windows no longer recognizes the hard drive and cannot install it. Not knowing the drive letter of the multimedia hard drive beforehand, I formatted it and it was the first device I connected; Windows recognized it immediately. Try to "free up" letter F: from all drives and connect your multimedia hard drive.

Exact, I reactivated the ports of the HDD and it worked. I think the transportation of the HDD also played a role; I had already experienced this issue with another HDD. Thanks to Fred 62 for the idea—it's simple and obvious, but you had to think of it.

Attention, for those who have or will buy a Memup LX 500 hard drive, there is a connection problem with the PC; the drive is not recognized due to a poor installation of the HDD in its casing for models whose serial number begins with a 7. The hard drive is not correctly mounted inside the casing. It is not connected to the supporting board.
Solution: Dismantle the casing, loosen the screws that hold the HDD, push it to connect properly, and tighten the screws, and that's it.
Mine works perfectly since this fix.

Hi Fabrice, Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this equipment because I've read too many worrying things not to take some precautions beforehand. Since when have you had your Memup? I'm asking this question because it's likely that the very latest versions have addressed the defects that were observed. It doesn't seem to support the divx format. Have you tried? (even though it's not too serious since normally by changing the film’s FourCC code, it works smoothly) When it comes to the operations for retrieving files, it seemed to be a mess (truncated names, very long access times...) What’s your opinion? Have you stored any other data besides multimedia?  Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hello indeed a bit slow to start, but then in my opinion it's fine. No issues with divx and avi, jpeg, and mp3 files I personally created subfolders in the folder my files the problem was resolved: connection issue I have no regrets.

koubiak you're a genius..........................big stress (I had the same issue, plus it wasn't even recognized anymore and wasn't turning on physically, radio silence...) feeling relieved now, reconnected and it's back on. In the notice it says: Your disk is factory formatted in FAT 32 to function properly in TV mode. The FAT32 technology does not allow recording a file larger than 2GB. If you decide to format your MEDIADISK under Windows 2000 / XP / VISTA, your MEDIADISK will then be converted to NTFS format. Therefore, the MEDIADISK will no longer be able to manage / view the multimedia content you have placed on it. Currently, under VISTA, no market software allows formatting in FAT 32 for the entirety of a large capacity hard drive. Please do not reformat your MEDIADISK Series to avoid returning it to customer service. Technical service Memup  So how can I copy a folder larger than 2 gigabytes if formatting to NTFS means I can no longer use the multimedia features? Can we partition an external multimedia hard drive??

Hello, I have a multimedia external hard drive (3.5) memup mediadisk 320 Go and for the past 10 days it has been malfunctioning.  My hard drive opens a port when I plug it in, but when I explore (or open) it afterwards, it is completely empty!! Nothing, zip, zero!  However, when I connect it to my TV, my music and video files appear correctly. So I'm unable to manage my files!  What can I do, please-please-please????  I can only find answers here for hard drives that are not recognized. I did try to open it from the back to push on the circuit board but it didn't do anything. Hello, I'm stopping by this site to ask if someone could help me... I bought a 500GB Mediadisk hard drive from Memup not long ago, and when I put files on it, like music... I can't play almost any of it on my TV! For example, the other day I put 15 songs (MP3) and 1 photo (JPEG) on the drive without making any folders! Just threw them on there. Then when I connected it to my TV, I could only find 3 songs out of 15 and no photo. In the menu of this drive, it shows: Music, Photo, Video, and Files! When I clicked on Music, I found those 3 songs. The first title did not match what I was hearing.. ^^ and the last 2 played correctly! And when I clicked on the Files menu, the 3 songs that I was able to play appeared, and it worked properly. Despite quick formatting and multiple attempts, I can't use it the way I wanted.. I then removed the 2 screws at the back, took off the cover, repositioned and tightened the hard drive. After that, the hard drive started spinning again like before. Thanks everyone for the info.

Hello  As for me, I have a completely different problem with a LX 500 Go  Hard drive noise: very quiet Recognized by my PC and my girlfriend's Mac!!!  Everything was fine until after 2 days: no color display on the TV, just Black & White  Returned for repair to C........t, where it is impossible to speak to someone competent on the phone. Handling, returned to me:  Not repaired!!! I still think that C.......t are a bunch of exploiters of e-commerce and I doubt the reliability of Memup: it is probably a faulty component or soldering  To think that I preferred Memup to Storex after consulting this site... Hello, Well, I also bought a Memup with 750GB. I have had nothing but problems: a very loud noise, then it would freeze halfway through movies, and then it no longer worked at all, very slow... Bought on Cdiscount, I got to know the incompetence of their after-sales service. I advise everyone not to buy this crap in a box.

well personally, I have an old model it's super loud it doesn't have any buttons on the front, as soon as you have a problem with your remote control... it's dead I have no way to update it (I have a lot of movies that I can't watch because of the too recent codecs) and for the past few days it crashes when connected to my PC (it no longer recognizes it after 20 minutes)  there you go  Good luck

Hello everyone,  A few months ago, I purchased a Memup - Media Disk - LX series - Multimedia Hard Drive - 500 GB. Everything works wonderfully. It is instantly recognized by the PC, and managing the files is as easy as on an internal hard drive. So far, all files (music, video, and photos) have been read without any issues. I connected the video cable to my TV and the sound to my surround player. Perfect As for the noise from the device... None. Less than my PC's fan.

So to respond to all of you as some have done before me, about 9 times out of 10 when a Memup LX series does not appear on your PC or TV, it is because the connector that links the case to the DDR is unplugged. You just need to open the case by removing the two screws on top, reconnect the DDR to the case's board, close it up, and it works like a charm.

Hi, I have a 500 GB one since the end of 2006 and it's still working perfectly. I've never needed to use customer service.  Sometimes, it can't read certain movies correctly, or it shifts the sound and picture by 3 seconds. I think it's due to the encoding of the film and/or time codes because it doesn't do this with other films.  With new formats appearing constantly and since there apparently aren't any updates for the Media disk, I think it's normal that the hard drive doesn't always keep up correctly. For example: it doesn't read Blu-ray for me.  I can connect it to the TV, to the PC and to the MAC without any issues. I find it hard to believe all these negative comments I just read about it. And I feel sorry for those who haven't been able to enjoy it fully. Plus, I bought it for around 70 euros, so I have nothing but positive things to say about it.

Hello, I use a DVICO ddmm, I entered about 30 videos, without any problem, I only use the ddmm for video, I reformatted it following the advice of the supplier LDLC and everything works well. The DVICO operates very quietly, I edit my videos and transfer them to the DVICO which I connect to the TV and it works. As for DVICO/PC playback, I don't know as I have never tried it, see you later.

For those who have recognition issues, I tested all the solutions I could find until I simply replaced the USB cable with the one from my MP4 player, and miracle, my PC recognizes it every time.

So try changing this cable before doing anything more complicated.

Hi, I have a DDM Mediask LX series 1TB and for some time now it no longer works on my PC. When I connect it, it no longer appears, and when I try to use my desktop shortcuts, I get a message saying that Windows Explorer is not responding and must close. As a result, W.E. doesn't want to restart, and I have to disconnect the DDM for my PC to function normally. The DDM displays without any issue on the TV screen and it reads all my compatible files that are already there. I can't format it either on my PC or on another one (several attempts have been made on other PCs).  Is this what you call "not recognized by the PC"? I have doubts about sending it for repair to avoid losing my data (some of which are WORK-related and VERY important).  Thank you for any help provided. Hello    First, connect the two USB ends to the PC using the supplied Y-cable, preferably at the back of a desktop PC without plugging it into the power supply.  For a laptop, please disable power-saving management and restart; this feature can be found in the installed drivers of the PC (often visible as a battery icon at the bottom right of the taskbar) or alternatively in the screensaver settings in Windows (right-click on the desktop and then properties).
