Hello,

I tried to uninstall Avast, and it asked me to restart. Since then, my PC has been stuck on "preparing Windows" for almost 3 hours. I've already tried shutting it down multiple times, the F keys don’t work, nor do Windows + R, or Ctrl + Alt + Delete. However, my brightness function keys work and my mouse moves, so it's not frozen.

What should I do, please?

It's urgent, I really need it for my classes.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

Hello,

Restart it and if not better:

Boot into the advanced system recovery options using method 1 from this page: Windows Advanced Recovery Options.
The principle is to reboot to the page where it asks for the password, with the icon in the lower right corner and holding down the shift key.

If you CANNOT get to the window where Windows asks for passwords, because of a freeze or crash beforehand...
Turn off the computer twice during Windows loading.
It will enter repair mode which will also grant access to the advanced system recovery options.
(If booting into the advanced recovery options is impossible, you need to create a bootable USB drive, there's a link on the previous page for that).

From Troubleshoot you can then try:
- launching a system restore to revert to a previous configuration of Windows
- From the settings menu, restart Windows and boot in safe mode, from there you can uninstall a problematic application like your antivirus
- Reset Windows 10 (this keeps your data but removes applications).

Please press a key to continue the disinfection...

Thank you very much! I restored the system after turning off my PC twice at the beginning of the Windows loading process, before the "preparing Windows" page appeared, and it worked!
