I can't finish the Windows updates! Solved/Closed

Question

Hello, I am seeking help for my Asus laptop running Windows 8.1.
After 2 weeks of not using it, I turn it on: everything works fine.
Windows update tells me there are 63 updates to install, and I start the installation...
after 1 hour, the PC says "restart to finish the installation": I do that... reboot and installation up to 95%, then the message "unable to complete updates - reverting changes - do not turn off your computer."
Problem: after 12 hours stuck like this, the computer is still frozen with that on the screen!!
In desperation, I tried removing the battery and starting with F8, but the message
"unable to complete updates - reverting changes - do not turn off your computer" keeps coming back.
What can I do to save my PC?

Hello,

I had the same issue and I called Asus customer service. Here’s what they told me to do (and it works!!). You need to perform a reset:

Press the power button for 30 seconds
Tap the f9 key and turn the PC back on while continuing to tap

It worked for me, hope this can help someone...!

Hello, this has happened to me often, try to do the updates in small groups if you can, for example the first 10, then restart, etc., etc., I hope I was able to help you.

Thank you eureka71300 for your response, but my "big" problem is that the computer is stuck in a loop (so it's blocked) for hours trying to undo the changes, with no way to start it normally to access anything.
The success of the updates is another issue...

Thank you jojo29: that's good to know... Assuming I can access the BIOS to set a boot from an inserted CD, I imagine???
Let's see if I can find out how and if that works...

Hello,
I bought a computer a few days ago, an Asus laptop. I turned it on this morning and it indicated that there were some updates to be made and that it would be advisable to do them. So I did, it completed at 100% and the computer restarted. But during the startup, a blue screen appears with "Unable to complete updates, reverting changes, do not turn off your computer." And it is impossible to go any further. When I restart it, the same screen appears again, I tried tips from other forums like pressing escape multiple times, the power button for 10 seconds, ctrl alt delete... But none of them work and the screen remains the same.. Plus, I'm not very tech-savvy. Is it possible to get some help? Is the computer ruined?

Turn off and turn on the PC three times by forcing the shutdown with a long press of 5 seconds on the power button.  After the third time, the PC will give you the choice of advanced options.
