MP Navigator EX 2.0 won't open anymore.

Hello,
MP Navigator EX 2.0 does not open anymore when Solution Menu is open (the CANON PIXMA MP980 Series printer icon is connected to my I-Mac). When I click on "scan" at the top left, a dialog box appears with: "MP Navigator quit unexpectedly." If I click "restart," nothing happens; if I click "ignore," the dialog box disappears and nothing happens; if I click "report," a whole series of technical phrases appear that I don't understand... No modifications have been made either on the computer or the printer since the last time I scanned a document about ten days ago. All other functions of the printer work normally.
Is there anyone who could provide an explanation and/or a solution to resolve this issue? Maybe reloading the printer driver?

      Thank you Francis, with the link you sent me I understood that the problem was due to the operating system of my computer. I found on the Epson site a driver for the scanner only, I downloaded and installed it and the scanner is operational again. Thank you for your help. Best regards.
