Busy display on phone

Hello,
I just changed the batteries on an Alcatel F580 landline phone. I cannot make calls: busy.
However, I can receive calls.
I tried with another phone and it works.

    Hello,
    First, try removing and then reinserting the batteries in the handset.
    Then, if necessary, cut the power supply to the base for about ten seconds.

    I hope that ordinary batteries haven't been used, but rather rechargeable batteries... there is a danger of explosion with regular batteries. 

     Very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room.
                                  Especially when it's not there...
