Hello,
I recently purchased a Sony MDR-RF855RK wireless UHF headset and I have a problem because after about five minutes the sound cuts out. I have to go behind the TV to unplug the headset and plug it back in, then the sound comes back and cuts out again after a few minutes of listening.
Do you have any idea where this problem might be coming from and why? Thank you in advance for your responses.
Best regards.

Good evening,

It needs to be fully charged before use, as stated in the provided manual, and I know what I'm talking about because I have the MDR-RF811RK and it requires 16 hours of charging for about +/- 13 hours of use.

For yours, it requires 7 hours of charging for a use of +/- 18 hours, that's also indicated in the user manual, and these 18 hours depend on certain criteria, it's an indicative figure ;-)

The only differences between yours and mine (which I've had for 3 years) are the charging time and usage time, and the charging base; otherwise, the headset itself is exactly the same ;-)

And if you had read the user manual, you would have seen the following:
If the device does not receive any signal or receives only a weak signal for about 5 minutes
If the system receives only a weak signal for about 5 minutes, the transmitter will automatically turn off*. If the volume of the connected audio/video device is too low, the transmitter may also turn off.
If a weak signal is detected, the POWER/GREEN indicator on the transmitter blinks green for 5 minutes,
then turns off.
In such cases, increase the volume of the connected audio/video device to a level that does not cause any
sound distortion, then lower the volume of the headset.
The transmitter may also turn off if it does not receive any signal for about 5 minutes.
The POWER/GREEN indicator on the transmitter blinks green for 5 minutes, then turns off. The transmitter restarts when it receives an audio signal again.
  • If the connected audio/video device is emitting interference, the transmitter may not turn off, even if it is not receiving any audio signal.

I think this passage concerns you!!!

I read the user manual before using mine and none of this happened to me afterward because I knew my device before using it; take note of that ;-)

The French user manual is on the back of the one in English ;-)

Best regards ;-)
