Sony wireless headset issue????

Question

Hello,

I bought a wireless headset yesterday, but the problem is that when I'm listening with the headset connected to my TV, it stops after 5 minutes, and the light goes off.
To make it work again, I have to touch the plug connected behind the receiver of my wireless headset, but the problem is that after another 5 minutes, the light goes off again.

Can someone help me?

I was given a wireless Sony headset in August (so almost 6 months ago) and I'm encountering the same problem as you.
Unfortunately, I had the bright idea of giving the same model to my dad for Christmas (thinking that mine must have a defect), and he's experiencing the same issue of the transmitter shutting off abruptly for no apparent reason.

So I have the problem with two devices purchased 6 months apart. I don't think it's a hardware issue, but there is certainly something that disrupts or perhaps a misuse...
For me, sometimes it cuts off every 5 minutes, and then other times it can last an hour. So it's quite a weird problem, and thinking about it, I can't quite see what could randomly disrupt it in terms of duration, and also so frequently in terms of people experiencing the issue.

Anyway, if someone has found a solution or a workaround, please share! ;-) These interruptions are really unpleasant, especially since it means getting off the couch and unplugging/replugging the power to the transmitter... might as well have a wired headset! lol

Hello everyone,
This is a bit of a late response, but I've been looking for a solution on forums for 2 days because I have the same problem.
I'm not an electrician, but a friend explained to me that it could be due to some frequencies already used by me or in my neighborhood.
So I conducted tests because I have equipment using the radio network:
- a live box
- a computer connected via wifi
- a WII also connected
- a cordless phone
- 2 mobile phones
- a radio TV relay
After turning off the devices one by one, with the wireless headset on, it turns out that the TV relay was causing the mess. I changed the frequency of the TV relay, and for now it’s working fine.
Fortunately, it wasn’t my neighbor’s equipment; otherwise, I would have been stuck putting my headset in the drawer.

It's never too late, so thank you for your response.

Not far from my apartment (about 2 km), there is indeed an airfield that must be blocking these frequencies.

I tried the headset at my girlfriend's place, who lives in the mountains 600 km away from me, and had the same problem.
At the bottom of the town, there's a military base that could be using these frequencies.

Marco, can you tell me how you changed the frequency of the TV relay?
Is it the "channel" button behind the headset support?
I remind you that I have the Sony MDR-RF860RK model.

Marcel 30, I just bought an LG 42-inch TV model 350. I have a SENNHEISER set 810 headset which comes with a SCART adapter that connects if your TV has a SCART socket. It works for me!

All of this is an issue with the output audio signal level of the TV, so the level needs to be increased for it to be detected by the transmitter.

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry, but I'm relieved to see that I'm not the only one having this problem.
I received a Sony TMR-RF865R headset for Christmas.
After several tests due to the infamous disconnections, I contacted customer service. I quickly received an identical brand new headset.
Unfortunately, the new headset seems to have the same disconnection issues (after 4 minutes on my end). Indeed, the only solution for it to work normally again is to unplug it and plug it back in... only for it to disconnect again after the next 4 minutes.
I've tried the different frequencies, positions that are more or less far from metal masses, etc... Nothing works.

If anyone has a solution or an explanation, please let me know because I'm thinking of getting a refund.

The answer is that it’s not a malfunction; it’s an AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF feature designed by those super intelligent engineers with ridiculously high IQs at Sony who... are so smart that they annoy us all!!

There needs to be a sufficiently strong audio signal for the headphones to "connect," and then in the absence of a new sufficiently strong signal, they shut off after 4 minutes!!

In short, these headphones are made for listening to music, not movies!! When there’s a sequence in a movie or series that lasts over 4 minutes with just low-volume dialogue, it cuts the sound right in the middle of the movie, what a joy!!

And the kicker is that the headphones have another major flaw!! They are equipped with a dynamic compressor!! This device lowers the sound when it gets too loud, which causes “suction” effects in the transitions between loud and soft sounds!!

So, to maintain sound quality, you have to lower the volume, but if you do that, the headphones automatically shut off!!

For constant volume electronic music, it works!! But for Mozart and Vivaldi, forget it!!

So, it’s a cheap wireless headset; if you want better, it will certainly be more expensive with Bluetooth headphones or something like that....

As for me, I’m going to try to tinker with my transmitter (it’s the transmitter that cuts off automatically) by dismantling it and getting my hands into the electronic “grease,” trying to find the component (probably a capacitor that charges somewhere) that controls this to permanently lock it in the “always on” mode, and I don’t even know if I’ll succeed.....

Hi everyone,
I suggest you try something quite simple, turn the sound of your device (TV, computer, phone...) up to the max, that way, there is always a signal received by the headphones.
Don't forget, for your eardrums, to lower the volume on the headphones. :D

Don't look for it, I've bought 4 of the same model MDR 810 R
When stopped, the red button turns off. CONCLUSION: BAD MANUFACTURING with this Headphones
If we hit it, IT WORKS.
It's really the headphones. NO NEED TO LOOK ELSEWHERE.

My solution was simple:
Not having found the micro/short circuit on the circuit board, I replaced the battery (39 euros at Darty) with two rechargeable batteries and I no longer put the headset back on its Sony stand. And IT WORKS!!
It's a shame because the quality of this headset is excellent both in treble and bass.
When the batteries are dead, I recharge them on my home phone.
All these interruptions come from this spot: the battery holder and its connection
