Hello and best wishes for the year 2018;
I am not familiar with this software as I am not a fan of Linux, but you should be able to find the solution on the links below (same). Or you could make a backup or a personalized external backup if possible?

Hello, Thank you for your help.
I have the KMyMoney manual.
I've skimmed through it, but with over 150 pages, I couldn't find the section that mentions it.
I also want to take this opportunity to wish you a happy new year. -
Hello;
As written above, I don't know this software but I'm quite familiar with MsMoney on Windows! >> Unless I'm mistaken, I think there should be an option to create a custom backup of the past year, either by backing it up on an external drive renamed "past year", or I think it should be possible to rename the account from 2017, for example, by adding -2017 at the end of that account number to differentiate it from the year 2018, for example.
Out of curiosity, I also looked through the manual and didn’t see the solution either, which is why I’m suggesting what’s written above.
Personally, I have been using MsMoney on Windows for over 10 years and I have never done what you are looking for, except for regular backups on 2 external drives for safety and I’ve never had any issues until today!
See you later

Under Windows, I used Money and every year I would archive it and thus start a new year.
Since MSkMoney is based on this model, I think there must be a solution, but I haven't found it yet.
Good evening. -
Good evening,
While reading the documentation, here is how to save:
4.11 Making backups
Now that you have created some accounts and entered transactions, it would be a good idea to make a backup. The file used by KMyMoney is a standard Unix file, so you can simply copy it to another location for backup or use the window provided by KMyMoney. It's better to use the window, because if one day KMyMoney uses a different file format, such as an SQL database, it will be much more difficult to copy the file manually.
To make a backup of your file through KMyMoney, select Backup from the File menu and enter the folder where you would like the file to be copied. If the folder needs to be mounted first, you must have sufficient privileges and check the box to Mount this folder before backing up and then click OK.
The file will be copied to the specified folder with the current date appended to the end of the file name so that you can easily see when the file was saved.
Best regards. -
Hello;
In MsMoney you can archive via the File tab >> Archive etc...
See if you have this option under MSkMoney if you have the same configuration otherwise??? Personally, I don't see how to do it very well?
Said this link >> File and data management section >> Archiving... it is not highly recommended to make archives because there can be problems afterwards? But as mentioned above, what is the point of archiving every year when backups take up very little space...
See you +

Hello everyone;
Personally, I will continue to make backups to avoid issues in case one day this software "crashes" because I'm not at all sure I'll be able to recover the archives. And if, as you pointed out, this software is a "compliant" copy of MsMoney, you have the ability to sort by date, so the years are easy to target and you'll have all your transactions in one place, which I believe is easier to manage than "manipulating" archives..
Looking forward to your upcoming comments, but if none >> Resolved
