Hello, I have a problem with my camera (Nikon D5300) that has appeared before but I don’t know the source. Sometimes when I take photos, the sensor malfunctions and causes purple and green horizontal lines across the entire image.
I find this concerning, is it because the battery is depleted?
Thank you for your responses.

    Hello,

I confirm that this problem does not come from the battery.

However, there might be an issue with the memory card, but I would be surprised because it seems from what you said that this occurs on certain shots and not on all. Nonetheless, try another memory card or reformatting it.

In fact, it would be a matter of finding the common denominator(s) among all your photos with this defect: lens used, IS mode, AF mode, or even an environmental issue? Indeed, the problem with sensitive electronics... is that they're sensitive! ----> the problem could perhaps come from specific electromagnetic interference at the shooting location (a moped passing by without a filter, a mobile phone...) This may sound crazy, but it shouldn't be ruled out, it's been seen before.

Another possibility. Were all the photos taken with flash?
Since the flash uses high voltage, maybe it's interfering with the sensor due to an insulation problem.

    Have a good afternoon.

Thank you for this incredible response, I would never have thought about the anti-parasite issue, but it's neither that nor related to the flash.
I just ran tests again, and by formatting the card, the first two photos seemed fine, however the problem persisted. Another discovery, when I switch the display to digital mode (so not in the viewfinder, but displayed on the screen), the image is completely obstructed by these continuous green/purple lines...

Well, I think the problem is the sensor!

I asked an expert, and indeed there's a good chance that's it. Maybe 200/300€ for the repair, thanks to the warranty!
In any case, thanks for your help ;)

Hello, battery no but possibly a defect in the sensor, also try another one with a different SD card, to see if the problem doesn't come from the card used!

    Hello,

Only on the screen or also on the files...?
In any case, it's nothing to do with the battery.

On the screen and on the photo itself. The device was bought second-hand but from a professional and the condition was impeccable, really no scratches at all.

Maybe I misunderstood the question, it happens on the photo file. However, when I have the eye in the crosshairs everything is perfect.
