Unable to access my USB drive: formatting request + testd

Hello,

First of all, I want to say that I searched and found other discussions on this topic (like this one: 309-recovery-of-data-from-usb-drive-sd-card-and-hard-disk). Unfortunately, my issue is not resolved...

So, I have had a big problem with my USB drive (actually a micro SD card): the computers recognize it but when I try to open it, I'm prompted to format it, and since I obviously respond no, a message appears saying that "F is not accessible. The volume does not contain a known file system. Check if all necessary file system drivers are loaded and if the volume is not damaged."

In disk management, I saw that the files are of RAW type, and after much research online, I found that the software that can handle this kind of issue is indeed TestDisk. I downloaded the latest version (7.1) and followed the tutorial (the simplest one for me is the one from PC astuces as I don't understand some expressions or overly technical terms). Thanks to this program, I was able to recover, by copying and transferring to my computer, a small portion of my files, but not the most important and recent ones...

I was wondering if there is anything else I could do to recover all or most of my files: for example, I don't know, since I don't understand it, whether I should or shouldn't use the write function to "rewrite the partition table" (????). Could this help me recover my data?

More generally, if you see any solution to recover my data, with or without TestDisk, I would be very grateful.

I am a teacher in a high school and I have kept my lessons on a USB drive for a long time. Unfortunately, and I take full responsibility for this, I let too much time pass since my last backup, due to carelessness and also personal issues...

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Hi,

Raw = Unformatted, as the translation says, so no valid format.

You can format it (With a "Quick" formatting, (Which doesn't overwrite, but simply gives a format to a device that no longer has one)).

Give the same format as when it was still working, probably FAT32.

Then, try a deep scan on the device with Recuva.

If that doesn't help you more than TestDisk, I don't really see how else I can help you.
