More readable USB key, transformed to "RAW" format

Solved

Hello,

I'm writing this post in desperation because I've already tried quite a few things and nothing has worked:
A USB drive that had important files on it is no longer recognized when I plug it into my PC (or any other, it makes no difference). Immediately, the computer suggests formatting the drive. Of course, I refuse; I have files on it that I was able to access just a few days ago...
I've tried:
- opening the partition via the disk manager or using the CHKDSK command. Result: the file system is in "RAW" format
- running the "TestDisk" utility to repair the partition > negative
- running "recover the partition" with EaseUs Partition Master > negative result, the software cannot find any files on the drive, no partition
- plugging the drive into a PC with Edubuntu installed > negative, the media remains unreadable...

Does anyone have any other ideas??

What could have caused this??

I'm furious about all this lost work :-(((

Thanks

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 52.0.2743.116

    Hello,

I had exactly the same issue last week with an external hard drive.

After going through quite a few discussions on forums and testing with software, it was ultimately a simple chkdsk that resolved the problem.

You say it doesn't work, but how are you launching it?

Do you have a drive letter assigned to your USB stick by Windows?

Run cmd as an administrator and then run this:
    chkdsk X: /f /r

Replace X with the letter of your USB stick.

Can you provide the exact result of this action?

Hello and thank you for your response.

I just executed it exactly as you described above and the response is as follows:
"The file system type is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives."

Awesome! I was able to recover my files thanks to the Renee Undeleter program. Thank you so much, you really saved my evening :-)))
      See you!

        Great!
You're welcome, now you can format your key and start from scratch ;-).
Just for your information, as far as I'm concerned, it happened after I left my external hard drive plugged into the FreeBox Mini overnight.
What the cause and effect relationship is, I don't know, but that's all I can think of.

        Good luck.

Thank you! It's nice to have provided the answer. It worked for me for a USB key that had to be forcibly ejected from a smartphone that did not offer "eject." The key ended up in "RAW" format and Windows (like the smartphone) no longer recognized it to open it.
