Hello,
I used the method indicating to press control + a: it made the contacts appear on the page, but the SEND button did not appear, even though all the toolbars are checked...
Thank you for shedding some light on the subject
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 55.0

Dubcek, thank you for your reply.
But... it was indeed the drafting window I was complaining about, where the SEND button had disappeared....
I was finally able to resolve the issue with 2 posts:
- the first one indicated to press Alt+a, which made my contacts reappear in that infamous drafting page, but without the mail toolbar (containing the send, attach, etc. buttons).
- a second one that I found - I can’t remember where - indicating to press the F10 key and then check the mail toolbar in the toolbars menu that appeared.
Phew... All's well that ends well, but what a hassle... I hope Mozilla will fix this flaw in Thunderbird, which is, by the way, a wonderful little tool....

Thank you very much to them (and to you, your message from 02/01/19 inspired me to quickly try to put the proposed "maneuver" into practice).
