Hello, I'm seeking your help with the following problem. Thank you in advance: I recently acquired at a garage sale a Packard Bell type iMEDIA references: PN: P480500602 + S/N: BW 84200174 with motherboard type: Motherboard: CPU Type AMD Athlon, 1400 MHz (10.5 x 133) Motherboard Name MSI MS-6511 (2 PCI, 1 AGP, 1 CNR, 2 DIMM, Audio, Video) Motherboard Chipset VIA VT8365A ProSavage KM133A System Memory 320 MB (SDRAM) BIOS Type AMI (09/24/01) Communication Port Communications Port (COM1) Communication Port ECP Printer Port (LPT1) the problem: The PC is without a hard drive (I knew this) I just bought a 160 GB Seagate hard drive (the smallest I could find), but the BIOS only recognized 128 GB... and Windows XP refused to install on it... so I downloaded "a update" to flash the BIOS (pbexp17.exe from the Packard Bell site) I flashed the BIOS... except that: in the BIOS now (on "AUTO") the disk is recognized as 160 GB but no data regarding the sectors, number of cylinders... and impossible to install Windows XP... I also tried setting the HDD recognition to "USER" instead of "AUTO" by entering the data manually, in this case the disk is recognized as 137 GB and I get a message after boot like ('unable to read data on the disk, please press ctrl+alt+del'). Questions: what is the right flash for the BIOS to correctly recognize the HDD? How do I install Windows XP on it? Note: apart from the hard drive issue, the machine runs very well, I tried it with a 40 GB hard drive from the neighbor... once again, thank you
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello.
First tell me what type of your hard drive is. If it's an ATA HDD, the problem lies with the BIOS and its configuration.
If your HDD is a SATA disk connected to a SATA PCI card, you need to install your XP with a CD or DVD that includes the generic or original SATA drivers.
Otherwise, use the installation CD you already have, and prepare a floppy disk containing the required SATA drivers that you need to insert after promptly pressing F6 during the startup of the Windows XP installation system.
