Sky Reinstallation

Hello,

Since yesterday, I can't launch Ciel Compta Facile; it tells me that some DLL files are missing. I've seen online that I should reinstall the software, but it wasn't provided with any CD, and the download link is no longer available on the website! It's version 8.10 from 2015, and I don't understand how one can get stuck like this; it's unacceptable. I've requested a callback from them on Tuesday morning, but I would like to resolve this before then.

I have the activation key, but I can't find the installation file. Any ideas?

Thanks

If it's a downloaded program, it is somewhere on your computer.

Check where files are saved when you download one from your browser.

Unless you have deleted it intentionally (or unintentionally), it should still be on the computer from which you downloaded it.

Caution would have been to burn it to a CD or DVD after downloading and keep a copy safe....

I completely agree with the backup... Unfortunately, I wasn't the one who handled that installation, and the person in question doesn't have the right IT reflexes.
This installation must be over a year old; if I try to repair it via Windows, it searches for the file in a temp folder...

The most impressive thing is that it's not possible to download it; the license isn't cheap, and the software should be available...

If you access the "Programs/Uninstall Repair" control panel and Windows finds nothing, it means the source is either moved or deleted... unlucky..

I completely agree, it's unfortunate that publishers remove older versions... Fortunately, this is not a general rule. Some sell a launcher that directly downloads the version. So in theory, as long as the version is valid and guaranteed, it remains downloadable...
Others leave old versions available for download in ISO format.

However, for accounting, payroll, and administration, standards change all the time, and older software quickly becomes obsolete, which doesn't encourage publishers to keep old software around..!

Now since the problem has occurred suddenly, it might be a good idea to check the health of your hard drive with a utility like CrystalDisk:

if there are read errors, the disappearance of the DLLs could come from there.
