Ciel Associations file CRUN.bin missing

Hello,

I am in an association that uses the Ciel Associations 2003 suite (Accounting/Payroll/Associations/Assets/Tax) for its entire management since the beginning of this season.

During the entry of members and contributions in "Associations," the secretary received the following message:

"License file missing! Check the working directory name of this application and the presence of this file or proceed to verify the server paths for network versions. C:\CIEL\WASSOC\CRUN.BIN"
Followed by another message: "Error -33"

Obviously, since then we can no longer open this software from the suite (the others remain accessible, see below).
While exploring the directories, I found CRUN.BIN files at the following levels:

C:\CIEL
C:\CIEL\WCPTA
C:\CIEL\WIMMO
C:\CIEL\WPAYE
C:\CIEL\TDS

I understand that this is likely the file containing the license key specific to the ASSO part, and no substitution is allowed using the other CRUN.BIN files.

However, I do not understand how it could have disappeared, especially during a simple entry. I used a data recovery software (demo version) called R-UNDELETE. It did not find this file. My searches on Google have shown that other users have experienced the same problem, but I have not seen any confirmed solution.

So here are the questions I have today:

1. What is the name and where is the file containing the entered data located?
2. Is there a way to recreate the license file without reinstalling?
3. Will reinstalling risk overwriting previous entries (no backups made... hum...)?
4. The cherry on top: why does this file sometimes disappear?

The management through this software during the registration period being frozen, it is urgent... On www.ciel.com, there is not much to be found! Thanks in advance to the knowledgeable users of Ciel Associations for their help.

Hello
you need to copy the CRUN.BIN file from the original CD. Take the file from the directory corresponding to the element of the suite that won't start anymore and copy it to c:\ciel\.... etc. It will work again. The same thing happened to me with the Accounting. I never understood how it happened. Since then, I've backed up these files on the disk where I have the software so I don't have to search the CD again.
Keep me updated. Good luck!

Hello,

Indeed, you need to copy the CRUN.BIN file that is located on your installation CD in the install directory.
Then, paste it into C:\ciel\wassoc, restart, and there will be no more problems.
This issue occurs when there is a crash of the software during use; if the PC is restarted while the crun.bin file is still open in memory, it gets deleted.

See you!

THANK YOU A THOUSAND TIMES (I'm not shouting, I'm happy!)!

It works! I hadn't imagined that a license file could be on the installation CD. I thought it was created upon entering the unlock key that Ciel sends after registration.
You had to have experienced this issue... and have the kindness to share the solution.
Thanks Wazaaa and Greg-Hl. We have caught up on data entry. In fact, when entering a new member, the "Associations" software crashes when trying to indicate the membership fee in the member creation panel.
Did you experience this bug? Is there a solution?

Hi,

When you say it crashes, does it display an error message? If so, which one?
Which version of Ciel Assoc are you using?
Try to make a backup first, then go to the utility menu, click on file tools, then on the defrag button and test it again afterwards.
See you!

thank you for your solution, what a relief when it opened. a cry of joy filled my house....
however, remember to back up very regularly because once my hard drive crashed and I was very glad to have my backup for restoration.

See you later

Hello, I know I'm reviving an old topic, but I too have fallen victim to the deletion of crun.bin in the commercial management section of CIEL. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get my hands on this CD, and I can't use the crun.bin from other CDs. Therefore, I’m calling on the owners of CIEL 2004 to kindly send me the crun.bin located at CIEL/WGC/crun.bin. My email address is maxime.lecoquierre at laposte.net. With my warmest thanks.

Hello,

I have the same problem, but I installed my software 6 years ago, I have since moved and I can't find it, if someone could send it to boisnier "dash 8" boisnier at yahoo.com, I would be grateful.
Thank you very much.

Hello, my Ciel commercial management version crashed and it gives me a license file crun error message. I found the method to fix the problem, but I can't find the right Ciel file for the correct version because, to complicate matters, I have several companies (TPE) each with a different version of Ciel and apparently this is the only one I can't find because none of the files from the versions I have work :-( It would be the version created in 2001 or Commercial Management version 8 (as I can't get more details from the hard drive). These are the two pieces of information I managed to find on the hard drive.
Thank you in advance for your response.
