Hello everyone,
For the past few days, this message has been appearing. I've been searching in vain on the forums, and I can't seem to fix the problem. I'm displaying the error report, but I don't understand anything. I also don't understand what "Launchd" is. I've never seen or used it before, and despite my research, I still don't get what it is.
I have a MacBook 10.6, and I'm quite bad at computers.
A big thank you for your help.

Hello,
Launchd is an application launcher or other tasks; here are some explanations HERE on how it works and how to disable it if needed.
Your problem might be that you tried to remove it, or someone else did, or some other action may have disrupted its functioning.
I have never used this thing on Mac OS X 10.6, and is removing it recommended? I don't know.
If Francis stops by, he can tell you.
In the meantime, you can read the page from the link given above (click on HERE)

When it's urgent, it's already too late (Talleyrand)
When all has failed, read the manual ;)

Thank you very much for this quick answer! I will read the explanations while waiting for Francis :-)
I went to read the explanations that helped me understand what "Launch" is, but indeed, I didn't dare to "nitpick." However, I saw that when logging in, there was an alternative software to iTunes that I had downloaded more than 6 months ago: Wondershare iTunes GO. I thought I had deleted it, but the file was in the trash. I emptied the trash and deleted the corresponding files (there were two) in LaunchAgents.
But I can't reach the upper LaunchAgents folder as recommended in the explanation.
The message still appears at startup of the Mac and about every 5 minutes.
This is where I am.
Thank you!

Hello,
If I remember correctly, launchd has been an integral part of the Mac OS X system since Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5, and it is one of the first system tools that Mac OS X launches during its startup. This tool allows for the launching of other system tasks and monitors their proper execution, even restarting them if they stop.
The error report you see could tell us more about the process that is causing launchd to crash.

Good evening,
Normally, it is possible to see which module caused the crash: it is indicated in the lines that follow
So there's no way to know what caused this.
I can only advise you to apply the maintenance tips for Mac OS X described below: Maintain and Repair Mac OS X 10.5 or Mac OS X 10.6

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV). However, in your case, it states
Crashed Thread: Unknownwhich clearly means: "the thread (or process) that crashed is unknown and there are no traces available."
Backtrace not available
So there's no way to know what caused this.

Hello,
I installed the Combo update. It didn't work :-( So I'm going to try the repairs as mentioned earlier in Richi's message, but it's pretty complicated for me... If you have any other ideas, please let me know. I'm losing hope...

Hello again,
I tried the repair without an installation disc because I no longer have one. And... my Mac won't restart. So really, I don't know what to do anymore!

Hello,
Please note that the Snow Leopard DVD is still available for purchase on the Apple website.
By starting from the DVD (you need to hold down the Alt key during the entire startup phase of the Mac until it asks you to choose the startup disk, there you will select the DVD), you should be able to reinstall Snow Leopard if the Mac can boot, of course...
