TERRATEC GRABBY Solved

Question

Hello,

I have a Terratec Grabby module that works perfectly on my desktop PC running W10. I received a laptop for Christmas, also running W10 and approximately the same configuration. I can't install this darn module! The provided Magix software works fine but only with the laptop camera... As soon as I plug in the USB, I get a message in my USB settings indicating a warning with a Grabby module whose driver is not installed. I've tried multiple attempts to download the W10 driver from the Terratec site with no success, and of course, Terratec support is nowhere to be found!!!
Does anyone have any ideas? Mr. Glandu perhaps?

Glandu.. Glandu .. never around when we need him ;-)
Have you tried installing the driver FIRST and then plugging in your TERRATEC? Give it a try, it doesn't hurt.
Otherwise, no other ideas for now.

Oh dear.. hey, you have no sense of humor.. or maybe you didn't understand that I was joking.. I even put in a little wink to REALLY SHOW THAT IT'S A JOKE... and I’m around the forum enough to know that Glandu has very good knowledge in this area..
Otherwise, have you tried my suspicion of a starting response?.. sometimes you need to install the driver FIRST so that when you plug in the Terratec it gets recognized... and I'm sorry, I didn't think you would take my little comment the wrong way.

Yes, I do have a sense of humor... but I didn't know Mr. Glandu had such a reputation and... so many fans! Thank you for your reply, I redid everything correctly after uninstalling everything first. Not at all, the beast is stubborn and I'm experiencing exactly the same behavior and the same messages. Indeed, your procedure is the one indicated by Terratec and honestly, I don't think I unplugged the module during my previous attempts, so... Could I have a BIOS compatibility issue??? sniff

Okay, in your case, if you have ANOTHER PC.. try to perform the operation as indicated by Terratec on this other machine.. if it works on the "test" machine, then the incompatibility is likely on your new PC.. then we will need to pinpoint the problem and see where this "bug" might be coming from.
Regarding the Terratec program, is it an executable?
If yes, you need to extract it with Winrar to have all the files available, and then we might try a partial installation (at first)

OK thanks, I’ll dive back into it as soon as possible. The "driver" file is a "direct" executable, however the Magix software is indeed "zipped." I "unzipped" it with WinZip but it should still work.
