Hello,
I just purchased Word, but when trying to install it on my PC (Windows 8), an error message appears:
30174-4-32
saying that a problem prevented the installation.
I had previously installed the trial version of Office some time ago. I followed the advice that said to uninstall the entire suite with a file to download, but a problem arises again (I've repeated the process about ten times...) and even going through the control panel, it is impossible to uninstall the program. I restarted my computer, deleted the installation files of Word, PowerPoint, etc., but nothing changed.
What should I do?
Thank you.

So I couldn’t uninstall it manually because as soon as I try to open one of the Office applications, it says: "The background installation encountered a problem, please make sure the Office installation disk is inserted and that there is enough space on your hard drive" (and I don’t have a disk since I bought Word directly from the site).
The offline installation gave me the same result as the online one, meaning the same error
I disabled the Kaspersky firewall, the same for the antivirus files, and I still get the same error
I haven’t "cleaned the registry," I don’t really know about that and I have no idea what it corresponds to... Should I delete the Microsoft Office folder in Program Files?
I hope I provided enough info
Thanks for your help anyway

For your information, if you tear out a tree, the roots remain. The registry keys are, in a way, the roots.
1) Go to Add or Remove Programs.
Click on Microsoft Office
Then uninstall.
2) Download CCleaner
Here
https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download/standard (direct link, don’t click anything on the page you arrive on, the download will start immediately after a moment)
Tutorial here, just look at the installation chapter https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/5647-ccleaner/#tutoriel-ccleaner#top
Once installed
Launch its cleaner and perform the cleaning. (leave all parameters at default for now)
Run it until it finds things to clean.
Launch and perform a registry cleaning (it will ask you to create a backup, answer yes)
Run it until it finds things to clean.
3) Check if you still find any Office files.
4) Disable firewall, antivirus, etc.
5) Reinstall Office
If you encounter any problems during a step, come back and ask. (do not skip any steps)
When you have solved your problem, remember to mark it as resolved!!!

Are you talking about the task manager??? It's not used to uninstall a program
There must be a vocabulary issue ;-)
Apart from that, try this to uninstall

On this page?

So we must have asked you to log in with an account to start the download?

I haven't used it personally, so follow the tutorial closely.
Try this software:

So I reinstalled from the download file and it didn't show any problems and it seems to have worked but I can't find the location of the program now that it's supposed to be installed.
I went to check in the control panel and Word 2016 was indeed listed among the available programs to uninstall.
I restarted and I'm waiting to see.

The arrow framed at the bottom left is used to scroll through the pages.
It must be somewhere ;-)
or
try this:
Make all your Windows 8 applications appear on the desktop with a single click!
How to do it?
-Right-click on your desktop, select “New” then “Shortcut”
-The window below appears; in the appropriate field, enter the command line
X:\Windows\explorer.exe shell:::{2559a1f8-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}
-Click on the “Next” button
-Windows 8 asks you to name your shortcut; enter the name in the corresponding field then click “Finish”
-Double-click on the new shortcut on your desktop: all your Windows 8 applications will appear in a single menu
Sorry, but I don't really remember how to navigate through Windows 8. (I didn't have it for long)

Repair Office and always read carefully (during installation or repair) to know if it properly creates the "shortcuts" and where it puts them :-)

You're welcome!
You're a real pro at uninstalling and reinstalling now ;-)
To finish:
__For Revo Uninstaller, you no longer need it, you can uninstall it.
__For CCleaner, keep it and use the cleaner and registry cleaner regularly (always back up just in case)
For these other uses, you have the tutorial provided.
(and put it in French, it's simpler)

I tried but it gave me the same error code...
I don't know if it's related, but for several weeks now, when I go to the task manager, my disk is at 100% or is rising from 5 to 100% while in the details almost all the sections are at 0.
Otherwise, can you give me in detail how you proceeded?
Example:
1) I deleted with -------- Everything went smoothly or not.
2) I cleaned the registry with ------
3) I disabled my firewall (and its name), then the antivirus (and its name)
And so on...
Because it's not simple when you don't have the PC in front of you, so as many details as possible to avoid misunderstandings.
Thank you.
