Hello,
due to a mistake, I tried to fix Windows Live Mail, which has completely disappeared from my screen. And probably my address book too.
I am with Bouygues and can access their email service, which is much less convenient than WLM.
How can I get back to that mail server? I see some dubious propositions online, like Reimage, for the reinstallation (???)
What would you do?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards

Hello.
Windows Live Mail is no longer supported by Microsoft, I would recommend you choose another email client like Thunderbird or stick with your Bouygues mail, or laposte.net, etc.
Otherwise, you can also try a system restore to a previous point as follows:
Type restoration in the search bar
Create a restore point
System restore
Next
Check the box: show more restore points
Choose a point from a date prior to the issue,
Next
Finish
About 10 minutes later, the PC will restart
If you have recent files you want to keep, back them up first. -
Good evening,
thank you for responding to my issue.
I have restored the system to an earlier date, which led to a reset of my PC. So I'm back at square one.
I suppose I need to download an antivirus (Avast or Avira).
However, I'm worried about my emails that were in WLM and my precious address book. What should I do? I'm looking into Thunderbird for email, but Bouygues' messaging isn't practical (it requires a lot of manipulations...).
Thank you for your opinions and advice.
Best regards

I'm continuing and I'm scared of the consequences of resetting my PC. All my photos from years that were on PICASA have disappeared.
I really think I won't be able to recover them, unless by miracle...
What do you think,
thank you.

I told you to restore to a previous point, not to reset, which is very different.
I gave you the precise procedure, I don't understand how you managed to stray so far from my instructions.
What version of Windows do you have?
To recover your photos, you only have one chance, which is to use suitable software like Recuva: https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/19127-recuva/
Do not enter any new data that could overwrite your recoverable photos even more.
Start with Recuva.
It can be set to French.

You will need an antivirus; for now, after installing Recuva, you just need to disconnect the internet.

Thank you, but the system restore did not work, and they directed me straight to the system reset.
I will try with Recuva, and you will have understood that I am not a whiz at computers.
What do you mean by disconnecting the internet? (Quitting Google temporarily?)
Thanks again
, I'm feeling bewildered...
Have a good evening.

It would have been necessary to repost or inquire before resetting.
Normally there were warnings that the data would be deleted.
Once Recuva is installed, disconnect the internet either at the box, through the cord, or by deactivating the Wi-Fi, to prevent the computer from being connected to the internet while it is without antivirus.
Is it Windows 7 the version?
