Hello everyone,
I’m lucky to have Windows 10, and I'm encountering some issues such as Ctrl F (find-replace) continuously working and constantly refreshing Windows, Word... Office, the internet on all browsers, emails... I don’t have any old restore points, I only have a recent one from 2 days ago, and I already had the issue then.
I don’t know if it’s related (but it happened at the same time), the numeric keyboard no longer works, although the num lock is activated...
Sometimes, using the tab key stops the refreshing for a few seconds. I’ve run antivirus scans (normal scan, boot scan with Avast), but there’s nothing.
It’s possible that some keys are stuck, but I don’t know which ones and how to unstick them or disable the shortcuts they create (like Ctrl+F for example). I’ve disabled this shortcut in Word, but it hasn’t changed anything.
My touchpad is also malfunctioning. It works with a mouse.
Sometimes it calms down a bit, but it quickly resumes.
Do you see where the problem could be coming from? Do you know how to disable shortcuts in Windows 10?
Thank you in advance for your help in getting me out of this blocking problem.

Moreover, sometimes it calms down and when I click on the desktop, all the icons start to flicker.
I just clicked on Ctrl+F and it stopped. Let's see if it happens again.

Hello elstevan,
Your PC is doing some really weird things: Ctrl F non-stop,
numeric keypad not working anymore, all the icons
starting to flicker... it might be due to a virus that Avast
didn't detect? You mentioned that you did a normal scan and
a boot scan; perform a full scan with Avast
and if that doesn't yield anything, try another antivirus: Avira
(free) or “Kaspersky Internet Security” (paid).
If your problem is resolved, please go to the top
of the page to click on “Mark as resolved.”
Otherwise, keep an eye on the other responses that
will come to you.
Best regards. :)

Addition: I'll let you read this message #5 from Birdee; you'll see that he had a
keyboard problem, and it was a thorough scan from his antivirus Avira that
detected 2 viruses; after quarantine: OK right away! albkan :)

Hello,
Thank you for all your advice, but I tested Avira (which found 2 infected files that Avast didn't find) and I'm still having the same issues: the numeric keypad doesn't work (when I activate or deactivate it with Num Lock, it beeps but the numeric keypad does not function), the PC updates itself (the desktop icons are flickering), when I go to Word or Excel, it keeps executing the "go to" function non-stop, when I open Notepad, it continuously types characters like "%/§...", and when I access the internet, it refreshes the page endlessly.
I then reset the PC in 2 ways (with file and total reset, same result for both) but strangely when I set up Windows (Wi-Fi, address...), it works fine, but once the configuration is complete and I access Windows, the issues mentioned above start again...
How can I perform a factory reset or format using the recovery disc located on another partition of the PC?
Thank you in advance,
Elstevan

Hello Elstevan,
Happy New Year 2017 and best wishes! Regarding your new request:
a) Just as Avira found 2 infected files that Avast did not detect,
perhaps an even more effective antivirus could find
others?
b) For formatting and factory restoration with the recovery disc, you need to follow
the procedure indicated in your PC's user manual. I can't
help you further with that, and I'll leave it to another responder =>
keep looking at the other replies that will reach you.
Best regards. :)
Hello everyone,
I did a factory reset, which even restored me to Windows 8.1, but I'm still having the same problems... namely:
- the numeric keypad that doesn't work (when I enable or disable it with Num Lock, it beeps but there's no numeric keypad),
- the PC is updating (F5) (the desktop icons keep flickering),
- when I go to Word or Excel, it keeps activating the go-to function non-stop,
- when I open Notepad, it writes the current time and today's date non-stop,
- when I go online, it keeps refreshing the page non-stop.
- the mouse on the numeric pad no longer works. It only works when I connect a mouse via USB
- the left click of the mouse disappears from time to time (it seems to correspond to when it glitches)
I think it's the PC because after all these resets and restorations, the issue remains. A strange detail is that when I perform these resets or restorations, it asks me to set up Windows before using it and during the setup, the numeric keypad works, but as soon as I get to Windows, the numeric keypad stops working, and after 2 minutes, the icons start flickering. The mouse on the numeric pad no longer works. It only works when I connect a mouse via USB.
So, that's the update on the project of getting this PC to run properly.
If you have ever encountered similar problems, please let me know how you resolved them.
Have a nice day everyone.
