The PC won’t turn off anymore

Hello,

I just changed my case. I moved from a HP Pavilion to a larger case. Everything works fine, but the only problem is that when I want to shut down my computer, I go to Start > Shutdown, but the issue is that it doesn’t shut down; it returns to the Windows login page. Is it a bad connection on the motherboard? I don’t see where the problem comes from.

Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

At first glance I would say that you have swapped the reset and power pins (corresponding to the buttons on the chassis).

The description should be written on the motherboard at the level of the connection pins.

Search "motherboard button facade pin" on Google Images to understand better.

Ha dac je pense aussi alors que c'est les branchements parce que j'ai fais au pif.
Par contre je n'arrive pas à trouvé le schéma des branchements je sais pas si je regarde au bon endroit.
Pour info mon pc est un HP Pavilion p6-2427ez Desktop PC Translation: Oh yeah I think the same—that it's the wiring because I did it by guesswork.
However I can't find the wiring diagram; I don't know if I'm looking in the right place.
For information, my PC is an HP Pavilion p6-2427ez Desktop PC

      Great, I’ll try it tonight.
To make sure I’ve understood correctly, should I put in this order: (Power Switch On/Off), Hard-Drive LED, Reset Switch, Power LED?

      Here.

In your case, it’s mainly about properly positioning the power switch and the reset. The others are less important since they’re only the LEDs on the front (which are optional, by the way).

      All good. It works.
But I had a bit of trouble because the designations you gave me aren’t the same as in my tower.

      Thanks for the help.

It's the only thing that changed; I'm going to add RAMs, I think, this week and take 8 more.

To add RAM, can I buy whatever I want from the store or should I check compatibility?

So you have on one side the standard (DDR1/2/3/4), the size (MB) and the frequency (Hz) for which your motherboard is compatible, and on the other side RAM operates in pairs:
      - If you only have 2 slots on your motherboard, the 2 RAM sticks must be identical
      - If you have 4 slots, it’s identical by pair (1-3 and 2-5)

to note that some motherboards (Asrock made quite a few) offer 4 slots but only 2 will be usable (one pair accepts DDR3, the other DDR4 for example).

in short, check the specs of your motherboard carefully before buying.

From memory I know I have 2x4GB and I think I have 4 slots, so I could put 2 more 4GB if my motherboard accepts 4.

there, also if the max capacity accepts it (you can have 4 slots of 8 GB max each, and a maximum support of 16, even though it seems to me that it's usually not the case)
