Issues with inverted uppercase keys + numpad

Hello everyone,

I've been having a problem with my HP laptop for a few days now. Just to clarify, it was bought new in May 2015.

The problem may seem trivial, but I can't seem to fix it. The shift keys are reversed, and the numeric keypad is unusable. Whenever I do a left click, for example on the desktop, it selects the entire line as if I had moved the mouse to select everything...

I've tried the usual commands to revert to normal, such as Caps Lock+Shift, or Shift-Caps Lock, almost everything, but nothing works.

Since Mozilla also refuses to start normally (only in safe mode), I thought it might be a virus. However, a scan with Malwarebytes detected nothing...

Does anyone know a solution?

Thanks in advance

Hi!
As for the left click selecting everything, I think you may have checked the wrong option in the mouse configuration panel.
Go to the control panel, open the mouse properties (printer and other devices grouping, I believe), and you should find an option specifying whether you select with the left click or double click.
Uncheck it if it is enabled.

If you want to scan for malware, AdwCleaner works great.
Glary Utilities can also clean your PC quite effectively.

Both of these programs are free, you might want to give them a try!

Hoping this helps with your issue,
Martin

Thank you very much for your response!

I have tested both of your software but the problem still persists... as for the options in the control panel, I have never touched them. I went to take a look, but everything seems to be in order...

Have you unchecked this?

Yes, it's unchecked. But I think it's a virus-related issue. Firefox only starts in safe mode, the numeric keypad no longer works, and as I mentioned earlier, the uppercase letters are inverted...

Try re-downloading your drivers and running cleaner software on your computer.
