Question

Hello,I have a problem with the touchpad of my computer (HP Pavilion dv7). Indeed, the touchpad works (I can move the mouse pointer on the screen) but the part that allows scrolling pages down (I call it "the scroll wheel") is not working anymore... It used to work but, without doing anything, it just stopped functioning. However, the Synaptic pointing device icon is still there and assures me that the touchpad is functioning normally. Can you help me? Thank you in advance...

Hello, I had the same problem that kept coming back even if I went into the control panel to reactivate the automatic scrolling of my mouse (touchpad).

What ultimately worked was running the Setup.exe file that was located in the following folder:
C:\SwSetup\Drivers\Touchpad

Hi, I also have the same problem, the touchpad scroll wheel isn’t working anymore, I think it’s after the Windows update I did (Windows update), well I'm not sure, I'm not a computer whiz ^^, if someone could find a solution that would be great :)

To all: reinstall the original driver for the touchpad.

And avoid posting things like "I have the same problem," as it takes the forum out of the 'unanswered' list, decreasing the chances of getting a response... solution! ;)

Hello, I have a problem that's a bit different from this one; actually, it's my touchpad. I tried yesterday and managed to get there, but it told me to uninstall PS/2 because it was not found or something like that. I clicked yes, and since then the Dell Touchpad tab has disappeared. I have a system and driver CD with my computer that I tried to use, but it doesn't execute; it just opens the folders inside. So, does anyone have a solution, please?

Hello, I have read all the solutions you provide but none of them work for me. I am on Windows 8 Pro with a Samsung. No matter how much I go into all possible settings regarding the touchpad, the mouse, etc., nothing resolves my issue. The scroll wheel on the touchpad works with two fingers on the touchpad, and for some time now, it has stopped working. I once managed to fix this issue by pretending to modify the touchpad settings, as everything was enabled. Unfortunately, this time, it didn't work... Could you help me?

Hello everyone,

Conf MSI GT72 Q, uh, brand new of the day.
What a hassle, yes ^^ Windows update most certainly removed the two-finger actions.
ON/OFF touchpad: fn + f3
You won’t find anything in Windows mouse settings.
It’s found in a separate driver, for me, located in the hidden toolbar next to the update flag (bottom left of the desktop).
Utility called “SYNAPTIC TOUCH PAD” or “Synaptic pointing device.”
A window opens “mouse properties” > click on “device settings” > “settings” > expand the “Scrolling” option > “two-finger scrolling”

And be careful where you put your fingers! lol

The issue on an Asus G751 is different in part > drivers to be reloaded from Asus by digging well, and beware of a secondary Windows 8.1 update that can screw everything up :) and fingers up your nose.

For HP, there's the touchpad lock in the indentation, otherwise mouse settings or ergonomics.

Be careful with the ergonomics functions especially for the numeric keypad on W7 and W8.1!!!
