Hello,
I can no longer open a file created with Microsoft Word 2013, nearly 22 MB. I sometimes had bugs when I worked on it for too long (the computer could no longer save). Since restarting seemed to fix them, I attributed them to Windows 10.
Here is the message that appears:
"Sorry... We can't open Nom du fichier.docx because we found a problem with its content.
Details
The ending tag for the element must match the start tag.
Location: /word/document.xml, Part: 2, Column: 1770556"
After browsing the internet, here is what I have already tried and what happened:
- Trying to recover previous versions: none stored in memory.
- Opening with WordPad or Office: only the first few pages of the document open.
- Renaming it to .zip, extracting it and opening document.xml: still the same error message with Word; a sequence of characters unreadable (to me...) with WordPad/Office.
- Using Wondershare Data Recovery: still the same error message with Word.
If you have any ideas to propose or if one of you, surely more computer-savvy, is willing to take a look at the file, I would be particularly grateful.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards.

Good evening,
Here I am again. File downloaded and perfectly readable with LibreOffice without any problem.
It’s quite a sharp document ;)
I’m trying to change the format to send it back to you

Thank you Jack!
I just checked: LibreOffice only recovered the first 16 pages.
I tried the "rename to zip and unzip" method again, but this time on Mac OS El Capitan. Using Safari, the file opens up to the first error that appears. Not surprisingly, this error is exactly at the end of page 16 that LibreOffice retrieved. -
