Unable to open the office open XML file

Hello,
I have a big problem with several course documents in Word 2007: I can't open them because a dialog box appears telling me "cannot open the office open XML file 'document name'. Problems were detected in its content."
I've tried everything and nothing works.
I really need these documents as they are course materials and I am currently in the exam period.

If anyone knows how I can open them, that would be great.

    Hi, do you have Office 2007 properly installed? Or an earlier version of Office with the Office 2007 compatibility pack?

    You can find this compatibility pack here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466

    And it only works on versions of Office prior to 2007.

    Also, try the software "OpenOffice 3.0", this version now supports the Office 2007 format.

      I have Office 2007 installed on my computer. I will try to do this, but will it work even if the document was created with Word 2007?

        If you have Office 2007, you don't need the compatibility pack since the format should be able to be opened. In my opinion, the document is incorrect. Ask the person who sent you the document to do it in another format (for example, Word 2003). Personally, I hate the new file formats: not everyone necessarily has the same versions of software, we need to agree on a format to exchange information.

        Always try OpenOffice, maybe the document will open.

        the person who sent me the lessons can't open the document either, the same error message appears.

        I'm going to try Open Office to see if that works.

    In fact, you can't read Word files in Excel and vice versa...
    Well, from my own experience, it's not possible because there are script issues...
