[Thunderbird] Insert a Gif into an email

Hello,
I know how to insert an animated Gif into an email with Outlook Express (a simple copy/paste is enough), but when I use Thunderbird (which I would like to have as my default email client, just for the anti-spam feature for example, or to encourage open-source software...), I can't copy/paste an animated Gif into the body of an email: the result (no matter how I copy and paste) is always a still image in the email.
I even tried opening the animated Gif with Firefox (thinking it would be more compatible than Internet Explorer) to copy it and then paste it into the email with Thunderbird (which is possible from Internet Explorer to Outlook Express), but nothing works, the image is still frozen...
Is there a way to send an animated Gif in the body of an email using Thunderbird?
I look forward to your advice. Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows 98 Firefox 2.0.0.5

When you say that the image is frozen, is it just the sending? Have you tried sending yourself an email with an animated gif to see if the gif was animated or frozen upon receipt? Normally, it's supported in Thunderbird.

Thank you for your help, it works!
Indeed, you shouldn't pay attention to what you send because it's fixed.
But if I send one to myself, the gif comes back nicely animated.
So you can send animated gifs with Thunderbird.
Thank you very much.

Hello
I would like to insert an animated gif in my emails but I want it to be visible and not as an attachment. How do I do that? Thank you for your reply.

In any good email software (for example on Mac: Thunderbird, Entourage, Mail ...), there is the option to Insert an image, usually through the Insert menu ... The image then appears at the location where the cursor was at the time of insertion ....
