Hello everyone, I would like to change my processor, moving to either an i5-4690k or i7-4790k.
I'm not sure which one to choose between the two, could you help me? I have an ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Z87-A Rev 1.xx motherboard, a GTX 970 MSI GAMING 4 GO graphics card and regarding RAM: I have two Kingston memory sticks of 8 GB (DDR3).
Would my motherboard be compatible with either of the two processors I proposed above?
Thank you for your understanding & have a great day.

    Hello,

Before figuring out if it's compatible, it would be good to know why you want to change.
Tell us a bit more so we can advise you better =)

To gain performance in video games, I play a lot of the latest game and I see that the configurations are becoming increasingly demanding, which is normal with the progress of games :)

Upgrading to an i7 is not necessary and can even be less beneficial in some cases. An i5 is great for gaming. Honestly, considering yours, which is not outdated, I doubt that changing your CPU will make a huge difference. With an i5 and a 970, you can already run everything you want on ultra or nearly so =)

I also wanted to know, by switching to a K version processor, I could overclock it and thus gain in GHz, meaning going from 3.2 to 4 GHz or even a bit more! ;)

and even 6 GHz if you want!
but you will fry your processor...

I think it should be overclocked moderately, or maybe not! The i7-4790k is the one I'm considering.
