SAMSUNG LE26R86BD : Loss of settings

Question

Hello,
I purchased a SAMSUNG LE26R 86BDX television on 07/10/07. I have noticed two very annoying problems:
1) In 4:3 mode, the television turns off after 30 minutes and then immediately turns back on but in 16:9. Is this normal? FNAC tells me it’s due to my antenna. I am surprised.
2) I adjust my personal image settings (size, contrast, brightness, etc.). I turn off the television. When I turn it back on, the entered values are lost, and the television shows the factory settings. Is this normal? On another television (PHILIPS), these modifications are retained when turned off.
I believe this is the standard.
Have you encountered this problem? Thank you for your help.

The "Shop" or "home" mode can be activated this way:

"If the unit is accidentally set to Shop mode and you want to return to Dynamic (Home) mode, press the Volume button and then hold down the MENU button for five seconds on the side panel of the TV."

Hi, for your problem I think it's not normal that your TV turns off by itself and on the other hand if it was an antenna issue it wouldn't turn off by itself, but rather it would automatically change format according to reception. You should go back to your seller with your warranty.

For your settings, it's normal for them to revert to zero; that’s intentional, because most people who buy a TV or LCD don't see the difference between their settings and the factory ones. As for the others, too bad. Generally, the adjustments are made for live broadcasts and not for movies. When did you buy it? Because you have a deadline for them to exchange it; I believe it's 15 days (I work at Dar..). Good luck!

Hello, while searching for a solution to my problem, I realize that I am not alone.
I have a Samsung TV LE48M86BDX/XEC (purchased less than eight days ago) that has exactly the same issue. (settings are lost after going into standby and reset after half an hour).
Can someone tell me if this is a fault of the Samsung LVD TVs or just a malfunction?

your lcd must be set to shop mode, go back to the plug and play menu and choose home.

In shop mode, the LCD resets every 20 minutes or each time it’s turned on in dynamic and demo mode! (I believe the manual says to press the volume buttons on the TV and then the menu, but I tried it and it doesn’t work. So "plug and play" > home and then the rest, you shouldn’t have this problem anymore.

Hello,I know why! I've had a 58-inch Samsung plasma for a week. I didn't understand two things:1) every 30 minutes, the setting would reset after a black screen for 1 second, so we lost everything we had done (it reset to dynamic contrast + 16/9 and everything to default)2) when we turned off the TV and then turned it back on, we lost all our settings.Well, it's because there is a "shop mode" or "store mode"! And another mode, the normal mode, the "home" mode, also called "dynamic".The shop mode is actually designed so that the default settings return, including on startup, to prevent the TV in the store from having poor settings which could hurt sales (due to random adjustments).So in the 600-page document (ugh), there is a way to switch back to home mode, which I did and everything is fine!At least apparently, to be confirmed, but we tested it for 1 hour and no problem, and the same after turning it off and on again.

having experienced the problem of unintended shutdowns and the resetting of default settings on 2 Samsung LCDs successively, you simply need to proceed as follows:

for the shutdown: it's a problem related to the device's update (via the antenna), just check the preferences to stop the automatic update

for the loss of settings: it is indeed the store mode that messes things up! generally, you need to go to the plug and play functions, enter the PIN (usually 0000), and switch back to home mode
