Acer AL1714 screen => dominant color green!

Hello,
I'm reaching out to your expertise, as I’m a bit overwhelmed...
I have an ACER AL1714 LCD screen that wouldn't turn on yesterday. After checking, due to all the cables I have behind my PC :( it had ultimately disconnected itself...
So, everything has been reset on that screen, and after some tinkering, I now have a predominant green color on it, with no way to adjust anything using the screen buttons (even after doing a factory reset) and it's not working in the control panel either!!
HELP!! This color is too hard on the eyes, does anyone have a solution that could make my life easier because I’ve been pulling my hair out since yesterday afternoon :)
Thanks, and have a great end of the day.
;)
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.4

Hello, you can try a test? Start in safe mode, then you will be in 256 colors, just to see if you still have that green tint. If that's not the case, uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your video card. If the problem persists or you also have that green tint in safe mode, check if any pin from the plug that connects to your computer is bent. You can also check if your graphics card is still properly seated in its slot on the motherboard.

Well, actually, I don't think it's useful to run the safe mode test because I tested it with the "Dead Pixel Buddy" software, and all the colors are present in that test; this means that the screen isn't dead, which is already a good point... and it also means that no pin on the cable is bent, right? :)
My mistake was touching the screen settings with the front buttons, and since then => I can't do anything.
As for the drivers, I don't have the original CD, so I'm a bit scared to mess something up, and there's nothing more on the ACER website.
I would therefore like to not "dig myself in" any deeper than I already am :)
I read a thread here that said to turn off the screen, press the + and - buttons while turning it back on, and a hidden program would appear; I tried it just in case (it wasn't for my screen model but hey, sometimes...) and it doesn't work.
And I don't have any manual for this screen because logically, you just need to plug it in, and it works! What mistake did I make???!!!!
No matter how much I unplug it from the wall socket, it doesn't go into error like when it disconnected by itself => that could have been interesting :)
Well, there you go, a whole novel for not much, I hope my question was still understood :) and that someone will come to my aid :)
    Thank you all :)

Here you go, I still started in safe mode, so no one can say that I'm not even following the advice I'm given :) and also to ease my conscience :)
The result is the same => green and dull colors
The pins are not bent and the graphics card is properly seated :)
I don't know what to do anymore...
If you have any ideas, go ahead, it doesn't cost anything, as they say :)
    Thank you ;)

Have you tried the automatic adjustment mode?

From what I understand, it's the power cable that has come loose; did it unplug from the wall socket or from the back of the screen?

Have you checked that the video cable is properly connected at the back of the screen?

    Hello,
yes, I tried the auto setting, it doesn't do anything more.
The cable was not really unplugged, I would say it was more of a "loose connection".
All my cables are well connected :)

In your screen menus and possibly also in the advanced settings of your graphics card, you can set the color temperatures. To achieve colors closest to natural colors in normal light (daylight), you should opt for the 6500K setting. The 9300K setting corresponds more to bright lighting conditions (for example, natural light on a very sunny day), which results in enhanced blue and green tones at the expense of red (I remind you that the colors displayed on a screen are decomposed into three primary colors which are Red, Green, and Blue = RGB).

Otherwise, for the driver and color profile: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/monitor/lcd/al17xx.zip

TazDevil, thank you for taking an interest in my issue ;)
In any case, all that has already been checked and everything is OK... :(
I contacted my dealer who is overwhelmed by this problem himself.
So, I need to contact customer service which, at €0.34/minute obviously, isn't answering; I’ve been trying for 2 hours....
However, I hadn't noticed that my warranty is still valid for another 18 months, which is pretty good news because the seller had claimed that the warranty only lasted for 1 year :)
So, if everything goes well, I could even get an exchange, cool because I wasn't asking for that much :)
I’ll keep you posted, as all the manipulations done so far have been unsuccessful!!
    Have a good evening ;)

    Hello everyone :)
Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks since I took my screen to the repair service, still no news.
I had to borrow my dad's since the store only has 1 loaner monitor and that one was obviously already loaned out, GO FIGURE!!
I was told that the July-August period is not the best for getting something repaired, NO SURPRISE THERE...
So, I'm waiting... about 3 weeks of waiting time... We'll see...
At the store, I still asked them to try the screen before sending it "somewhere I don't know", and there: strange, the dominant color was not green but pink... :(
Anyway, I'll let you know more in less than 10 days if everything goes well...
(especially since my dad is desperate to get his screen back... hmm.....)
    Bye

    Hello,
I got my screen back on Friday, August 18, after a 3-week wait.
It needed a repair, indeed: the graphics card was changed, which was the root of the issue.
So, let's say my problem has been resolved.
For your information, the customer service informed me that this issue occurs quite often with flat screens,
    Well, of course!!! :(
Thanks to those who cared about my problem.
    Have a nice day.
    ;)

I'm having the same problem, and yet it appeared at the same time as you. What happened is that someone messed up a completely crappy USB cable on the other end, there was a phone, and it blew everything up. It was terrible. I would add that it's unpleasant. If I had the secret, I could repair it myself.

I have the same problem,... on 2 Aopen screens "too much green"
the 2 screens are almost the same model: F2923 and F2925

a strange thing to note; when I press the button for it to make an automatic adjustment, the colors are perfect,... but when it finishes its adjustment,.. it puts it all in green!,....

has anyone ever had this problem?

I have the same problem with an Acer AL1916. I press the auto-adjust button, the correct colors appear for 2 seconds and then it returns with an excess of green!!!

      Hello,
Do like me, if it’s coming from the graphics card: you will inevitably have to change it :/ So go through a service center or a repair shop to get an estimate ;)
      Good luck everyone :)

I had this problem in the past, it was coming from the connection cord, there was a loose wire.

    Best regards, Christian 15

Hello everyone, here's a quick and easy solution for those who are not too advanced in this field.

    (procedure)
for those with Windows XP and above

    start menu
    then control panel
next (this may vary depending on the system) you need to find your device manager

then go to the monitor section
you uninstall the driver and completely shut down the computer for a few seconds (make sure the disk is completely stopped)

then start it up and your system should be able to automatically reinstall it (thanks plug and Play)

this issue is mainly due to either a too long disconnection, or screen modifications (different size compared to the old one, basically inappropriate resolution)
also possible due to a poor connection (if you move the cable connecting the screen to the computer, it should flicker or show a poor connection) unless there's a physical break in the connection, once properly fixed it should not show any flaw

this method may require starting in safe mode if you cannot make changes through normal boot

it can also be indicated by a semi-black screen with the other half bluish after Windows has started (but only once Windows has started, not before)
personally, this has happened to me a couple of times whenever I move the computer and it remains unplugged for too long or I've also seen this a couple of times during monitor changes

and Cariou Virginie, if the merchant tells you it's a break, it might not be true and just a trick to take advantage, I have computers and they have similar problems and so far excluding the possibility of defects, a graphics card failing overnight is quite rare, it hasn't happened to me yet after more than 15 years and basic training in computer science and repair

not to mention that on this part I cannot say for sure but if your card was indeed defective, you shouldn't have been able to get any image and even less a high amount of green (I could be wrong, but that's not the kind of reaction your computer should have due to this supposed problem)

you are much more likely that it's your monitor or just a simple resolution issue

unfortunately, it's too late for you but for everyone else who might have a similar problem, make sure you don't rely on the advice of just one company, let's say that the world we live in is too honest ;)

this is like any mechanics no matter what it is, you need to trust the one who will repair it and they need to justify themselves and earn your trust, too many people get taken in, too many people buy and offer their trust too easily

hoping this might help a little more or avoid paying unnecessarily
have a good day and good luck
