Hello,

I tried to open an Excel file from an email on my PC with Excel 2007, and I received the error message "Microsoft Excel is waiting for another application's OLE action to complete." I closed Excel, restarted it, turned off the PC, and rebooted the PC. Nothing works; every time I try to open Excel, I get this damn message and I can't do anything. I updated to Windows 10 just before this problem. Could there be a link?
Could someone please help me resolve the issue?

Thank you,

Mika

    Hello,

The transition to Windows 10 may be the cause. There are many issues following this migration, and not all problems have been identified yet.

Look here, you may find your solution:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/known-issues-with-office-and-windows-10-28d56d84-c16c-4763-8eac-e51e05a37a16?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us

And in any case, make sure that Office updates are done correctly:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/errors-opening-office-files-after-upgrading-from-windows-7-to-windows-10-4ceecee4-c4bb-47cd-9566-2b3a3997418e?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us

Just for your information, an OLE action is an action coming from an application, such as Word for example during a mail merge. So, after rebooting the machine, it seems strange that Excel is still waiting for an OLE action.

There is no shame in not knowing everything, but taking credit for others' work is the most contemptible thing... Please cite your sources!

To return to the OLE issue, does your workbook have a connection to data from another application? If so, that might be the cause.

      Thank you m@rina,

No, it was just a simple file with numbers and letters.

I did not find a solution in the mentioned links because they are for Office 2013.
      Thanks anyway.
