Hello,
I have a small issue with my Memup Nas4Bay server.
I can't seem to use it, I can't connect it with the smartnavi software.
It is connected via RJ45 to my FreeBox server.
I also can't connect to it via its IP address.
If you have a solution? Or another software to connect it?
Thank you.

Hello
Do you see it in the Freebox interface?
Can you ping it from a PC?

Hello,
Memup no longer exists... But you must have a manual with you... Or a PDF file on the CD that serves as a user guide...
Because aside from the fact that it doesn’t work, you’re not saying much that’s useful...
How long have you had this..??
How many internal disks...?? Has it ever worked..??
Connected via RJ 45 is very good... You also need to assign it a fixed IP number, open the ports in the FreeBox... there are things to do, it doesn’t start by itself...
Your software...??? I don’t know it... What is it supposed to do, normally..?? -
I've had it for a month now, but I can't get it to work properly, and it's not with the manual that I have "in English" that I'll manage to do so.
When I purchased it "on CDiscount," I didn't get the installation CD with the necessary utility to configure the NAS from the computer.
I think Smartnavi is for that...
It has therefore never worked so far; there are 2 disks in it.
I see it in the "freebox OS" interface, but only when I start it up, and let's say for about 15 minutes after that, I can no longer see it.
I also see its IP address "192.168.1.24."
And I've managed to ping it once, but since then I can't anymore.
"You also need to assign it a fixed IP number, open the ports in the FreeBox... there are things to do; it doesn't start up by itself..."
I suspect there are things to do, but without a manual, it's complicated, and even more so since Memup is in liquidation!!!
And I don't really know how to do it!!!! -

Re,
If you have the link where it's possible to download this notice, I would know how to read it...
Otherwise, I think Cdiscount could still provide at least some help regarding the products they sell... But for that, you need to contact them.
Your installation software surprises me a lot... Because this software name is dedicated to pedestrian GPS..??????? in my opinion, it's not the right one.. Or they made fun of you..
It's normal that you can't access your NAS via the WEB, because you can't call yourself, you need to do it from someone else's place...
From your PC, you need to type the address of your NAS 192.168.1.24 in the address bar of your Firefox browser or another, you should see something..?? I don't know what.. at least a message..??
-- To see it on your internal network, you need to have a group name that must be the same on your PC and your NAS (for example, "JEROME")... You can't communicate if you're not in the same group
-- I also think you should assign fixed IP numbers to each of your home devices... In the FreeBox, in the DHCP section, you need to enter the MAC address of the device and the IP number you assign to it, next to it..
And each machine is set to automatic IP..
That way, each will always have the same IP, regardless of the startup order.
In your case, it's not just the problem with your NAS, there's also the knowledge of how to set up a network..-
The setup utility is called "Kargo Utility-nas-Kargo" for this type of NAS, but I can't find it on the NET.
Normally, Cdiscount should be able to provide it to you... that seems normal to me... In my opinion, they gave you another CD instead, which has nothing to do with it... Just to shut you up...! That's what I suppose.

So when I bought this server, the installation CD wasn't inside, so I contacted CDiscount to supply it to me. They tried to contact Memup but nothing happened, so they gave me a €25 voucher for the inconvenience. But I still haven't received the installation CD.
I ordered another server from CDiscount (but from a seller on C le Marché) with the €25 voucher, but a 2-bay this time, and there was a CD, yes, but a burned CD, or so they said, because it was blank... I contacted them again and they sent me a CD with Smartnavi on it.
I will try to give you a download link for the manual and the software so you can see for yourself.
This is the manual:
https://www.transfernow.net/?utm_source=partagefichierscom&utm_medium=download
This is the software:
https://www.transfernow.net/?utm_source=partagefichierscom&utm_medium=download
When I enter the address of my NAS 192.168.1.24 it tells me that the timeout has expired. I can only access it when the disks are removed.
I start formatting the disks and then it bugs when I refresh the page. -

Good evening,
I admit it's full of discoveries...
-- First of all, you say you bought a 4 Bay NAS server from Memup and the manual you sent is for a "SmartStor DS4600" from Promise Technology...??? So what brand of hardware do you have..?? and what model..??
It might be the same thing, but I don’t know... ? and I can't find where it's written...
-- Indeed, the installation software here is "SmartNavi" but there are several versions and many are made for MAC...?? So, what are you on... Mac, Windows, Linux...?? and what version.
--DS4600 SR1 Firmware R2.05 Support Microsoft Windows 7 and MAC OSX 10.6 and above
It also seems that there are several versions of Firmware based on the above reading.... If necessary, it might even be wise to do this update... I don’t know what it brings..?
In any case, we need to know the version of yours..??
-- Your program link might be good but it has a password..?? I found almost the same program on the Promise Technology site http://www.promise.com/Download.aspx?DownloadFileUID=509 it’s the version for Windows, it's multilingual...
-- This software must be installed on your PC to allow the installation of your NAS, then.. The first thing to do is to set it to French.
--->Functions--->language--->French.
Your manual is still 147 pages long... but there are many images that are the same in French...
This device seems to be a nice tool... Its configuration will not be set in stone, it will depend on what you want to do with it... On its usage... Don’t think you will configure everything at once... No, do the main things first and you will discover options whose utility you completely ignore (do your research) and accordingly, you will improve it over time... A forum with the same NAS is not bad either.
Over time, you will have a lot of things in there, a real treasure and total loss would be a true catastrophe... Especially since you will likely store backups of your PCs or phones and more... 15,000 photos over decades...
You should also think about having a complete backup of your server (just in case), so a big 3TB 3.5" drive with its own power supply... for example connected to your server via eSATA or USB and do this at least once a month... Anyway, as you like, but that's the principle.
There you go, you still need to answer the clarifications requested throughout this post. -
Good evening,
So I bought a Memup PRO 4Bay:
The link to the model I purchased: https://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/materiel-reseau-wifi-internet-bluetooth/memup-kargo-4bay-12tbnas/f-107152803-kargo4bay12tbnas.html
I am on Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64-bit
What needs to be updated? The firmware?
How can we find out?
I don't know if it has a password; in any case, I uninstalled the one I had on my PC and reinstalled the one you gave me with the link.
And unfortunately, look at what it shows me on the screen; I can't interact with anything!!! :
What I would like to do with my server is store my photos, my music, my movies, my PC backups....
And be able to access it from my TV or another PC outside my home. -

Good evening,
Yes, with this kind of server, you can do everything you hope for. After setting the right parameters...
-- Yes, I did find your Memup NAS, but nothing indicates it's the same as the DS4600...?? It's true that it looks quite similar... But..??
-- We need to find the firmware version of your NAS, it should be written on its manufacturer plate, underneath... Or on the motherboard inside, it could be a sticker stuck on a chip on the board... Maybe send a picture of this board... because there are different versions of SmartNavi.
-- That said, yours seems to start up well, even if it then gets stuck...
In my opinion, it isn't finding your NAS... It might be blocked by an antivirus or a firewall...?
You could turn off your NAS and FreeBox for five minutes... Restart the FreeBox and two minutes later your NAS... and two minutes later, launch your SmartNavi... it should find...
You can also click on regenerate...
A version is indicated... 1.9.0.9 what's that..? the version of the software or the firmware version of your NAS..?
I think it's important to know the exact version of your NAS to find the right version of SmartNavi that is compatible with Windows 7...
Don't you have another PC under XP for example..? that could also give it a try. -
Hello,
I just disassembled and checked what was written on the motherboard: NS4600P Controller Board GP0930 - 03 REV A3
I'm attaching the photo:
I think the version indicated is the software version.
And unfortunately I don't have another PC, I only have my laptop.
Is there something to set up on my Freebox router? Or can I access the NAS without configuration from SmartNavi? -
jeannets Posted messages 28379 Registration date Status Contributor Last intervention Ambassadeur 6 600
Hello,
The photos are very good, I will take a closer look... it seems that the model and the version are not the same...
Normally, the "SmartNavi" is designed to set all this up, that's its purpose...
-- In the FreeBox, you may need to open port 80 in front of your NAS's IP, as this allows communication with your web browser... But there are probably other ports that are specific to the manufacturer.
I'll check for the next steps. -
Re,
OK, I'm waiting for your response!!
Could you explain to me how to "open port 80 in front of the IP of my NAS"?
Thank you.-
You need to go to http://mafreebox.freebox.fr and access your FreeBox interface
For a V6, everything is done from its own management interface http://mafreebox.freebox.fr
- Freebox settings
- Advanced mode
- Port forwarding
Here is the site with all the tutorials http://www.freebox-v6.fr/index.php/tutoriel/
--- In the case of accessing your NAS, you also need to be wary of other devices; firewalls, antivirus, ad blockers, pop-up blockers... etc... anti everything... which can prevent the connection from being established.
But with a NAS and also DLNA streaming to your TV and others, it would be better for you to learn to master the ins and outs of your FreeBox, it will be very useful for you. -

Hi,
The good news is that this equipment is indeed the same and bears the brand "Promise Technology" Model NS4600... Rev A3 (unknown)
The software is indeed SmartNavi... However, the website and the documentation do not mention Windows 7, the most advanced listed is "Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit" or XP... otherwise, everything is for MAC.- Windows Vista Home Basic
- Windows Vista Enterprise
- Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit
- Windows Server 2008 Enterprise
- Windows XP Professional
- Mac OS 10.4.x
- Mac OS 10.5.x
So, before installing your SmartNavi, I recommend setting it to be compatible with Vista SP2 for example... Right-click on the file--->Properties--->Compatibility--->Run this program in compatibility mode for... and check below.
-- You should see the IP number of your NAS in the FreeBox...
-- Type this number in the URL address bar of your browser...(for example: http://192.168.1.24) and hit enter... It should display something.
If it asks for a username and password, type admin for both.
I continue to search if there is a more suitable version of SmartNavi.-
Here is the site that provides a SmartNavi that claims to be compatible with Windows 7
https://www.promise.com/us/Support
You need to go to page No. 2
Find exactly this: in the 7th paragraph
SMARTSTOR NS4600 SmartNAVI zip
SmartNAVI for Windows XP, Vista, Windows 2003 and Windows 2008, Windows 7
Utilities [ Last Update ]
Click on "ZIP" to download the file in question... it should be more suitable...?
There you go, I hope that with all this, things will go better and make progress...
I remain a bit surprised nonetheless, as you cannot be the only one nor the first to face these problems.

Hello,
I have successfully downloaded the software, I installed it but I still have a problem.
I can't connect the NAS with smartnavi.
I enter the IP address of the NAS and it tells me "this is not a promised NAS product"....
I also tried to configure my router and I would like to know what I should write in the fields:
Destination IP: I put my router
Active redirection: I checked
Source IP: I put all but I have the option to put whatever I want
Protocol: TCP or UDP
Starting port: ?
Ending port: ?
Destination port: ?
Thank you for your responses. -

Hello,
Look closely at the screen, it doesn't tell you that it's not a promise...
There are two lines:
The first asks you to enter the IP address of your NAS like 192.168.1.24.... you should run the command Ping 192.168.1.24 to check if your NAS is indeed at that address.
The second is only for adding a NAS that wouldn't be of the brand....???? if your "Memup" is not considered "promise", click on add and it will ask you for additional information..
It seems to be translated into French... so that's good
Each icon on the left corresponds to a menu
For your router, set 80 in the three lines to zero.... I don't have a FreeBox and its administration is quite particular.
I think you are on the right track. -
Hello,
it's not working, I don't know what to do....
No matter how hard I try to enter the IP address or the name of my NAS in Smart Navi, nothing happens; it tells me that it is not a Promise product.
I'm starting to run out of ideas.... -
And when I connect a hard drive and start the formatting from the internet (when I connect to the NAS's IP address from the internet 192.168.1.23)
after 2 minutes of formatting it crashes and I no longer have access to the server, the web page shows an error... -

Hello,
I was wondering what happened to your business..??
I must admit that I don’t really know what to do... except try a few things, to see if it responds..
The NaviSmart I gave you is definitely for a Promise NAS... and the problem is that yours must have been "Customized" on the Firmware side by MemUp...
How do you initiate this formatting..?? Because normally it is the NAS's internal logic that does that, not the PC... unless the disk is out of the NAS..
How many disks do you have installed in it..??
-- I'm tempted to think that the first NaviSmart CD you got from Cdiscount is indeed the one that corresponds to this Memup NAS... And it doesn’t work on Windows 7 ... but on XP or Vista..??
-- You could try uninstalling the current NaviSmart and reinstalling the old one by putting it in "XP Compatibility" mode before installing it on your PC.
Right-click on the file before installing it.... Properties... Compatibility... XP and then install it.
-- You should also ping the IP address of your NAS... to be sure it’s the right address... press Windows + R type cmd a DOS window opens, type ping 192.168.1.23
You should see four lines showing a response in milliseconds.
That's it for now.. -
So to format the disks I have in my NAS, I open a web page by entering the IP address of the NAS 192.168.1.23:
But when I start the formatting, the webpage gives an error and I no longer have access to the NAS interface...
I pinged as you told me, and it works but only when I removed the disks from the NAS:
I will try to install the software as you said ;) -
jeannets Posted messages 28379 Registration date Status Contributor Last intervention Ambassadeur 6 600
RE,
I don't know if it's necessary to install the software in question, considering the photos you sent.
Indeed, it seems that your NAS is working and that you can access it normally from the web page corresponding to its IP address.
However, for it to keep working, you need to always have the same IP 192.168.1.23. So it's essential that this IP is fixed in your local network.-
Adon,
You cannot format the disk where your system is located; you will erase everything and crash everything.
However, you click on "Administration" and you will have access to a whole bunch of settings that are necessary for the proper functioning of the NAS and also for what you want to do with it.
For all of this to work well, your NAS must always be at IP 192.168.1.23... So the IP must be fixed, preferably in the FreeBox, next to its MAC address.
I think you also need to go into each icon that should be a configuration menu... For example, to access your movies or photos from your TV...
