Wifi and Crous... dangers?

Hello,

I am currently a student living in a Crous residence, and I just received the connection code (Smartcampus) for the Wifi this afternoon; it is with Wifirst.

However, when activating the Wifi, a message tells me "some people may see what you send"... what does that mean? Can they see my browsing history? My personal information?
Is it risky for Facebook, emails, online purchases...?

Thank you in advance for your answers!

    Hello,

You could be spied on if there’s a hacker who has the same code, or an external hacker who has cracked that code. After all, it’s relative; not everyone has a hacker next to them.

To protect your access, you should use a VPN, as it completely secures your communication. There are very good paid VPNs for just a few euros a month; otherwise, you can try free VPNs, but you risk having interruptions and slow speeds.
