Hello,
If someone could help me, I'm trying to burn an audio CD of music using Cyberlink Power 2Go.
When the software window opens and I play the audio CD, I'm asked to drag the music files into the lower window.
The extraction begins but it stalls and makes a terrible noise.
I have to cancel the task immediately because I'm afraid it might damage the original disc.
Why?
Thank you.

Hello again,
I made another attempt this morning. Despite the noise during the extraction, I let it run until the end. Engraving was successful but the extraction was very noisy and very long, about an hour for 11 pieces.
Is that normal?
Thank you for your responses. -
Hello,
No, the noise is not normal?
Have you tried using another free burning software like CDBurner for example?
If the burning process still causes so much noise, then I would lean towards a hardware issue with your burner or the disc. You might want to consider changing the device... well if it's old enough... or try another brand of CDs like Verbatim, to name the best-known one.
Best regards

To tell the truth, this is the very first time I've burned a disc, and with my laptop that I've had since 2010, and thus with its burner, and also with this Cyberlink software that I didn't know at all but was installed with the Vista 2 version by an IT technician a few months ago.
Previously, I used to burn discs on my desktop computer with CDBURNER and NERO (I had both).
I still currently have the desktop computer, on which I also had Vista 2 installed by the same IT technician, at the same time as the laptop.
And I haven't checked on my desktop to see if I have burning software, and if so, which one, because the desktop is on the first floor.
However, the extraction process (therefore, the noises) occurs before the burning, during the extraction of the music tracks that are on the original CD. The original CD, which is not a copy, has no issues.
Then, when I replaced the original CD with the blank CD to burn (TDK CD-RW), the burning process went smoothly, very quickly, and without any noise.-
Alright, I understand better what you're doing.
So it's not a hardware issue, it's just the extraction process with Cyberlink Power 2Go that causes the noise. Your way of doing it seems a bit strange to me in the end, as he suggests, maybe it's the right method, I don't know. In that case, yes it's normal for this process to make a bit of noise I think since the software is copying what's on the disk to your computer and thus putting a lot of strain on the CD in the burner/reader.
Why don't you just do a CD-to-CD copy with this software?
Personally, I also have this software but I don't use it because I find it, it's just my personal opinion, not very user-friendly and I prefer Nero (paid version) or CDBurner for free.
But in the end, if you managed and despite the "noise" everything ends well ;)

Thanks, well, I'm going to make another attempt with another original CD and still Cyberlink and my laptop.
If it makes as much noise, I'll cancel right away, get rid of Cyberlink, and download CDBURNER... which I will first download on the desktop (if I don't already have it) and run some tests up there. I think the technician must have also installed Cyberlink with version Vista 2 on the desktop. And since I of course have another burner on the desktop, there will be tests to do.
For the direct CD to CD copying with Cyberlink, I don't know how to do it, and I haven't looked into it any more than that.
