Hello,
I recently bought a new laptop: the Acer V Nitro. It is equipped with 6 GB of RAM, an Intel Core i-5500U CPU (2.40GHz), and runs on Windows 10.
In terms of graphics cards, there are 2:
_an Intel HD Graphics 5500
_a Nvidia GeForce 840M
The problem is that the Nvidia graphics card doesn't seem to be working: my computer is slow for demanding tasks (3D, graphics, etc.) and when I turn on my PC, it shows that the Nvidia graphics card is inactive.
Do you have a solution to fix this issue?
Thank you in advance!
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 42.0.2311.135

Hello,
Let's proceed step by step:
1/ Go to: Settings / System / System Information / Device Manager
Let me know if you see a yellow triangle with a ""!"" in the graphics card section?
If so, it's simply a driver update.
2/ You mention 2 graphics cards, but in reality there is one, and the other is the one integrated on your motherboard, which leads me to think you need to disable and then re-enable the main one. How to do that? Simple:
Information taken from the Acer website:

In my opinion, after some research, this is the right course of action to solve your issue.
