Hello,

I created a "Text OpenDocument (.odt)" file and saved it with a password.
Today, I want to remove this password. How can I do that?

Thank you for your help.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 44.0.2403.155

    Hello Tram,

to remove the password, click on the "File" menu, "Save As" and uncheck the "Save with password" box at the bottom of the dialog box.

        Tram,

when you want to open the document, a password is requested, is that correct?
If so, after unchecking "Password protect", you do complete the saving? If necessary, try giving it another name, but normally that is not required.

Otherwise, knowing that we usually undo an action in the same way we did it, what method did you use to set the password?
And as a last resort, copy/paste your document into a new one...

    Hello,
You need to open your file, then go to "File" in the top left, then "Properties" (a bit lower), then a small window will open and you choose the "Security" tab and then "Remove Protection" as shown in the image ;)

Thank you for this response, but my problem is not resolved, as the panel only offers me the option to protect and not to cancel the protection!

And when you click on protect, what appears?

        A panel indicates: protect history
        password
        confirm password

When you set a password and want to remove it, you need to enter that password to lift the protection; then you can delete it.
It's best to avoid setting a password unless absolutely necessary!
