Hello, I have this error when starting my computer.  SMART hard disk Error the SMART hard disk check has detected an imminent failure. to ensure no data loss, please backup the content immediately and run the hard disk test in system diagnostics  hard disk 1  etc..  I did a "hard drive quick test"  it showed me: Hard drive smart check: failed component test: failed   does this mean the disk is dead or could it just be unplugged?  thank you  Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 39.0

I read thank you, so I have two questions, what do we do when we have an error like that to back up the data before it goes down?   And another, I opened the computer to check if the hard drive was properly connected, and I didn't find a fan inside.  Is it normal for a laptop to have no fan?   It’s a budget Compaq 15-s004nf.

Hello BroutBrout,  Generally, this error message means that the hard drive is failing... In such cases, the priority is to back up the content immediately, perform diagnostic tests, and replace the drive if necessary.  If I understood correctly, this is the system HDD and Windows cannot boot at all, meaning you can't copy your files to another drive?  If that's the case, you could connect the HDD internally or externally (enclosure, SATA-USB adapter) to another machine, or simply boot from a bootable USB/CD to try to recover your files.  If needed, you could resort to specialized software, or use a Linux live CD to attempt to recover your data.
