PS4 does not recognize Ethernet cable Solved

Question

Hello,

I'm trying in vain to connect my PS4 to an Ethernet cable because it's too slow to download via Wi-Fi, but my PS4 doesn't seem to recognize the Ethernet cable (which is brand new)
I've gone to settings >> network >> LAN, etc., and nothing works :(
I've also restarted my router and it's the same.
I should note that I'm on Livebox Orange.

Hello!  Settings > Network > Set up Internet Connection then Custom and set it to automatic, that should do the trick :)

No, because I only have one, this one, and it's brand new since I bought it this afternoon...
Do you think it could be the cable that's not working?
There are 4 ports on my livebox, numbered from 1 to 4, and they're all taken except for port 3, which is where I plugged the other end of the cable, but maybe it shouldn't be plugged into port 3...
I'm a bit worried about unplugging everything for fear that nothing will work afterwards ;-(

Hello Rwx

I followed your advice and tested my computer with the ethernet connection and it works well, the computer recognizes it...
I think there must be some settings to adjust on the PS4 so that it recognizes it too (since my Play is also brand new, I would be surprised if it already has a problem), but what settings??

Hello Rwx,

I followed your advice and when I go to
Settings>>Network>>Network cable (LAN)>>Custom mode
I then have:
-IP address settings (either automatic, manual, or PPPoE)
And then several options are presented to me based on my choices...
I will try to attach some photos to make it easier.

Damn, the photos didn't upload :(

Anyway, there are several things I need to specify later, like whether or not to specify "DHCP host name" if I go on automatic. If I go on manual, the Play asks me several things like IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, etc...
And finally, if I go on PPPoE, it asks me for the username and the PPPoE password.

It's unfortunately quite complicated as you can see. (At least for me) :'(
