Hello,
I used to use my Samsung external hard drive on my old (very old) MacBook that just died...
When I try to use that same hard drive on the other MacBooks in the house, it only offers the files in read-only mode; I can't delete anything, can't add anything, and I can't simply unlock the hard drive...
Would a kind soul have a solution to propose?
Thanks in advance!
Configuration: Mac OS X (10.10.3) / Safari 8.0.6

Hi, you can try to recover all your data since the hard drive is read-only. Then you can try to format it using the disk utility.

Hello aliaslucie,
The first thing that came to my mind was the file system of this hard drive... You've always used it under MAC OS, however it's worth checking the format of the hard drive. To do this, you could access Disk Utility > you see a few tabs at the top of the window (First Aid / Erase / Partition / RAID / Restore - this depends on the version of MAC OS you have) > under the Partition tab you see the window with the hierarchy of hard drives on the left > the representation of the (or the) partition(s) will be displayed in the middle of the window > to the right of this image, you will see the Volume Information: name / format / size.
You could also try to repair the disk permissions on your MAC (still from Disk Utility).
Please let me know the results of the checks you will make, thanks :)
I'm keeping my fingers crossed and waiting for your news :)
