Hello everyone,
I just received this email from an ad I posted on "Le Bon Coin":

"Hello
Thank you for your response.
I confirm my interest in your furniture.
I want to let you know that I am currently traveling (outside France)
but I am ready to send you the money to reserve the item as I will be back
in almost 3 weeks.
Regarding the pick-up upon my arrival, I will come to your home.
So if you agree, I will send you a cash order via post that you will receive in cash at the nearest post office to your home and make the reservation for me.
Please let me know if my proposal suits you by providing me with the following information:
- your full name
- your home address
- your various phone contacts and the final price of the furniture. As soon as I receive all of this,
I will do what is necessary with the post office on Monday morning and will inform you by email
with the payment details.
But I am counting on your good faith since you will have the money well before the pick-up?
Have a good day
Sincerely
Mr./Mrs. Berdal
Phone: 00225 57 56 21 02"
Apparently this person has been operating in France for a long time with the same method, but not the same phone number ...?

Thank you to everyone who has already reported this case; it helped me avoid being scammed.

Here is what I received. Scam. Be careful "I agree to buy it but I have a small problem, I am currently very busy with my job, I live at 2 bis rue des glycines mougon (79) and I am currently a nurse traveling and especially busy with my work so I would like to make a reservation for the property by sending you the full amount by post in cash to make sure that I am taking it and once the funds are in hand you will keep it for me until I come back in two weeks, I will come to your home to pick it up.
    What do you think?"

    Hello

A report to the French authorities won't get you far... the phone number starting with 0225 proves that the scam originates from Africa...

As for the name of the "scammer" ... it is very likely a stolen identity from a previous trick... (publishing this harms that person, as well as those with the same name...)

    See you

I just received the same kind of email regarding 2 items of furniture I had listed for sale on Le Bon Coin.
Luckily, I checked online and saw that this man, Mr. Berdal Emile, had been scamming for a while. Thank you for your alerts.

I just received a similar message saying that he was interested in my granite table and that he would send me cash by mail. He is asking for my name, address, and when he can come pick up the item.
Mr. Emile Berdal, who supposedly lives in the Vosges
I am glad to have found a message indicating that it's a scam.

    Hello,

    Reminder......

The identities provided are, in the vast majority of cases, identities that have been stolen during previous scams. They will therefore be removed here if their legitimate holders request it.

Indeed, publishing these names, even though it informs that they are currently being used in attempted frauds, only harms the "real" people who have been fooled and are now struggling to deal with the heavy consequences that follow....

Furthermore, when an identity is "too worn out".... the criminals use another one.... and that one... will be used to trap you if you only rely on names to "protect" yourself.... (Besides, depending on the scenarios, once trapped it is your names that will be found in the forum....... )

The only way to protect yourself is to take into account the scenario, its context, the way the emails are written, the payment methods, etc., etc...

    See you later

    Same attempt from this person.
    What is the scam about?
What do we risk by responding to this man?

    Best regards

He will ask for your IBAN. He will propose a transfer to your account, including the charges for the transfer he is supposed to make from abroad? He will ask you to pay these fees in order to receive the transfer. You will receive no transfer, and he will have earned your payment of the so-called fees. A great scam.

What's good about scammers is that they are often as stupid as their attempts. If you play your cards right, you can even squeeze some money out of their own scam. It's not difficult to turn their heads if you present them with a target that seems easy enough and looks like it pays well.

      Hello to you too....

Do you have a concrete example of your assertions?.....

Because before a scammer is willing to send you untraceable vouchers, I think a lot of water will pass under the bridges!....

After that, I agree that not all of them are very subtle and that the writing of their attempts often suffices to demonstrate their intent....

On the other hand, it's possible to drive them crazy by leading them on with fake vouchers, or to scare them by "threatening" them with witchcraft that would render them.... powerless...
But, one needs to have a good grasp of the subjects to be credible enough, and..... have time to waste!
