Hello,

I’m reaching out to you again regarding an issue. I had to change my internal hard drive, as the old one was dead. So, the hard drive is installed, but when I try to install the OS, there’s an error during the partition formatting. I’ve tried several times without success, and there’s no specific indication other than "Windows encountered an error and cannot format the disk."
So I connected it externally via a casing to my other computer to see what the issue is, and when I attempt to reformat the disk (the hard drive is still blank, never used, new, and still formatted as RAW), I get "The disk is write-protected."
I’ve tried a number of solutions posted in various forums, and none have worked. I am therefore imploring your help!
As for the hard drive, it’s a WD 1TB, model number WD10JPVX.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 41.0.2272.101

    Hello,

It would be good to know what solutions you have tried.

Have you tried formatting it to NTFS by booting with a DVD/CD (or USB key) of a Linux distribution that includes the Gparted utility?

Another avenue to explore: create a bootable disk (or USB) of Active@ Boot Disk which contains everything needed to wipe, partition, and format a disk.

Which version of W7 did you use? Is it an ISO image that you burned?

For now, I tried changing the disk attributes with diskpart, without success, for the same reason, it’s write-protected.
I attempted to do the same operation in safe mode, you never know. I also tried changing the registry keys, and the command
    takeown /a /f X:\ /r

I will try with Active Boot Disk, I doubt GParted can do something, stop me if I’m wrong, it’s the same type of utility as Easeus, right?

    Thanks for your help.

It's also a partitioning and formatting software, but for Linux.
I've never used Easeus. However, I have successfully resized partitions without data loss using AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard (free).

The problem is that you're unable to install your operating system. I assume you've checked in your BIOS to see if the disk is recognized by your PC.

Try using Active@ Boot Disk, it has been very helpful to me many times.
